Matt Cordova Wins Van Doren Invitational 2016

The Van Doren Invitational finals went down today with some of BMX’s most stylish and craziest ramp riders going to work on the bowl in Huntington Beach. Once the dust settled, Matt Cordova landed himself the top spot with Clint Reynolds and Dylan Lewis rounding out the top 3! Matt absolutely CRUSHED the course with his big lines, super clicked tricks and style for miles. Above is a look at Matt’s riding footage, with Clint and Dylan’s before courtesy of Ride BMX. Expect to see plenty more footage popping up tomorrow!

Clint Reynolds took 2nd place with his smooth lines and some creativity like the backwards bars 360 over the spine!

Dylan Lewis took 3rd place with his insanely high airs and big, stylish tricks. We’ve been big fans of Dylan for a little while now and it’s safe to say he finally put himself on a lot of peoples radars with his riding this weekend. Stoked for Dylan!

Van Doren Invitational 2016 – Qualifying Highlights

Over the course of the past few days we’ve been seeing plenty of BMX videos popping up with footage from what has been going on during practice and outside of the Van Doren Invitational. Yesterday was the qualifier for finals that put some of the most stylish and craziest ramp riders in the bowl to try and make finals! Van Doren Invitational 2016 – More Practice Highlights

Things are really starting to heat up at the Van Doren Invitational with things officially kicking off today. Here’s a video Ride BMX dropped giving you a look at some of the action that has been going down so far. You know when some of the most stylish riders and most dialed ramp riders in the world all get together for a big session, things are going to get crazy. We can’t wait to see what goes down in the actual contest!

“The Van Doren Invitational is a contest unlike any other.. Seldom are the worlds best bowl/transition riders summoned to compete in a contest that stresses the importance of general “course flow” and style, as equally or even more important than tricks. Jason Watts Mic’d Up at the Van Doren Invitational

Have you ever wondered what’s really going on during practice at a BMX contest? Ride BMX strapped a microphone on Jason Watts for a practice session at the Van Doren Invitational that gives you a look at what it’s like. This has a TON of laughs and riding, followed up with a not some fun crash that took Jason out for the day. Take a peek!

“If you remember the first ever Bullshittin’ video, Jason Watts simply stated “I don’t do interviews; I just ride my bike” when I stuck the camera in his face. Maybe he didn’t know what I was trying to make at the time or maybe he’s changed his mind, but Jason let me strap a mic to him on the second day of practice at the Van Doren Invitational. It was supposed to be a nice stroll around the park, but a night out with his best friend Jack Daniels had Jason giggling, talking shit, and ruining people’s lines all session long…until he had to be strapped on a backboard.”

Van Doren Invitational 2016 – First Practice Highlights

The Van Doren Invitational is getting rolling and it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a bunch of footage from the event over the course of the next few days. Here’s a fresh batch of footage that surfaced from the first and second practice that went down already. As expected, this is bringing out the style and we’re more than okay with that! “That title is a bit of a lie because this is actually Monday and Tuesday’s practice, but really, the practice session on Monday was super mellow while everyone was beginning to sort out the bowl and try to get a run in. Tuesday warmed up a bit, but I think everyone on deck knows that they have two more days of practice, so there’s no need to stress. So here’s two minutes of randomness I grabbed in between filming that course preview you caught yesterday and a Mic’d up with Jason Watts that you’ll see later.” – Ride BMX

Gary Young – Van Doren Invitational Course Preview

It’s that time of the year for the Vans US Open, which means the Van Doren Invitational is going down right there on the beach as well. Here’s a a video where Gary Young gives us a tour of the course along with a little input from him as he rolls around (and almost gets taken out)! Expect to see plenty of wild riding go down in this bowl over the coming days!

The Street Series – Los Angeles – BMX Day 2016

The videos from the different locations for this years BMX Day jams from The Street Series continue! The crew over at Ride BMX mic’d up Dakota Roche has he headed up the Los Angeles jam that had a HUGE turn out and a ton of amazing riding from a bunch of familiar faces. Hit play and take it all in!

“Yesterday I hit the train from San Diego to Los Angeles, pedaled a couple miles to Hollenbeck Plaza, and met up with about 400 BMXers for the honorary BMX Day (it’s actually 7/20). No joke, it was one of the wildest street jams I’ve ever been to. The level of riding, the good vibes, the lack of anything or anyone being negative…hell, even the cops at the end were super nice. The day was simply awesome. So sit back and enjoy the ramblings of the curator of the day, Dakota Roche, as we shoot through the mean street of LA.

There’s no shortage of people making a trip down to Austin, Texas in the BMX world. Here’s a fresh mix of footage Charlie Crumlish put together from some of the locals, along with a ton of visitors getting down on spots all over the city!

“Charlie Crumlish decided to trick his friends.. and now ATXliens have invaded earth!

Riding from: Jake Seeley, Tom Dugan, Matt Nordstrom, Brett Silva, Kareem Williams, Brandon Begin, Craig Passero, Mag-Wheel Guy, and many many more.

There’s so much to be said about this glimpse into the weird and revered Austin, TX scene. So many inside jokes and mind trips woven into the fabric of this video that you’ll have to watch at least 3 times. Here’s Charlie’s description of how he tricked his friends..

“Over the winter I started to notice that we only filmed Instagram clips when we were out riding. Lots of good shit was happening but overall it felt like we weren’t working on anything solid or somewhat permanent. So I decided to trick my friends.

It was easy. If we were out riding and anyone wanted me to shoot an Instaclip of them, I’d tell them I would film it on the real camera and send them the clip later that evening, Naturally everyone forgot what they’d shot by the time we were done riding, and the edit folder continued to grow. A few dodged text messages later, here we are. Sorry guys! I’ll send y’all the clips now that the edit is done. ATXliens have invaded earth.” – Charlie Crumlish
