Cult – “Small Talk” Josh Alderete

September 20, 2014

Keeping the party going! Josh Alderete’s section from the Cult “Small Talk” DVD is now online! Josh has been killing it for a long time, but I think this section will really open up some eyes to just how good he is! Check out some amazing pegless freecoaster lines that he cooked up for this one!

“We’re psyched to be rolling out the sections from Cult’s most recent DVD, Small Talk, that ever-so-greatly moved the spotlight from their pro squad to the ams. Something relatively fresh in BMX, focusing time and money and letting their up and comers is something that rarely happens, but building the team from the ground up is what Cult is all about, so we’re hyped to rename the best day of the week for the next month: Cult’s Small Talk Saturdays.” – Ride BMX

“The classification between amateur and professional in BMX has been discussed and debated, but never clearly defined. While the lines are still a little blurry, if we can agree that a professional includes a paycheck and a certain level of experience and skill, then we’re halfway there. So what is an am? Does BMX even need ams? Cult thinks so, and they helped set the precedent for an established am class in BMX with the release of Small Talk, their am-based video that gave Steven Mack, Josh Alderete, Iz Pulido, and Andrew Castaneda the center stage usually reserved for the pro riders.”

Josh Alderete
Hailing from Palm Desert, California, Josh is another one of the quiet shredders who is all about consistency and riding as smooth as possible. He’ll be the first to call himself out and just pedal back to the start and film the line again until he’s happy with it. Even if everyone else would have taken the first try, it’s all about Josh’s own standards.

Dew Tour Brooklyn – Street Practice & Schedule

September 20, 2014

Well, the weekend is finally here and Dew Tour Brooklyn is about to kick off with practice here in a few minutes! But before that goes down, get a look at what went down in Practice yesterday to see just what’s coming! I have a feeling Garrett might be taking this one…

“Street Practice at Brooklyn Dew Tour today was pretty next level. progressive, yet consistent and casual was the name of the game. Even guys on the course were commenting about it being the craziest practice session they’ve ever ridden in. But really, what more would you expect when you take a handful the best street riders in the world and throw them onto an amazing course for one long and heated session. Ty Morrow, Bruno Hoffmann, Dakota Roche, Garrett Reynolds, Chad Kerley,Dan Lacey, Dennis Enarson, Mike Gray, and Broc Raiford are absolute masters of their domain.” – Ride BMX

Ty Morrow, Tony Neyer, Gabe Brooks & More at Diamond Park

September 18, 2014

You know when a crew like this rolls into a plaza, things are going to get wild! Check out what went down during a heated session at Diamond Park in LA!

“The brand new LA-area Diamond Park is the street rider’s paradise. With down-rails and hubbas, ledges, flat-rails, and wedges… it provided plenty for Ty Morrow, Tony Neyer, Gabe Brooks, Tom Villarreal, Raul Ruiz, Morgan Long, & Andrew Castaneda during the park’s first heavy-hitting BMX session. The creation of the park may be responsible for the destruction of an amazing handrail, but with the level of riding that went down during these dudes’ first session at the park, I’d say it just might be worth it.

Riders: Ty Morrow, Tony Neyer, Gabe Brooks, Tom Villarreal, Raul Ruiz, Morgan Long, & Andrew Castaneda.

Garrett Reynolds’ Street Style

September 17, 2014

Ride BMX dropped this new video of Garrett Reynolds absolutely DESTROYING some rails and ledges at a park to hype up the Dew Tour Brooklyn stop this weekend! You already know you need to see this one!

“First off, shout out to Garrett for coming out in this massive heat wave and absolutely killing the PQ park in 100 degree weather. And to Tony Ennis, for taking control of the main camera out of the kindness of his heart.

Few would argue that Garrett Reynolds is the best street rider there’s ever been, and with next week’s Dew Tour event in Brooklyn, New York, we got a few words from him about what he enjoys about street events before he battled the heat for more than a few clips at one of his favorite local parks. Check the video and be sure to catch the live webcast of the Street event on http://dewtour.com this Saturday, September 20th, at 12:30EST.

Cult – “Small Talk” Grant Germain, Joe Molina & Friends

September 13, 2014

More sections from the Cult “Small Talk” DVD surfaced today thanks to Ride BMX! This time around we have phenomenal sections from Grant Germain, Joe Molina and a ton of the Cult connects from around the world in the friends section for you! Hit those play buttons!

““The classification between amateur and professional in BMX has been discussed and debated, but never clearly defined. While the lines are still a little blurry, if we can agree that a professional includes a paycheck and a certain level of experience and skill, then we’re halfway there. So what is an am? Does BMX even need ams? Cult thinks so, and they helped set the precedent for an established am class in BMX with the release of Small Talk, their am-based video that gave Steven Mack, Josh Alderete, Iz Pulido, and Andrew Castaneda the center stage usually reserved for the pro riders.

“Grant is a flow rider from Long Island who had spent the summer in California. We filmed a bunch of clips for the mix part, but then realized that with a few more clips he’d have his first full-length video part. Grant definitely worked hard for it, and I think it was a good experience for him to be a part of the project. He has surely grown a bit since he’s been riding for Cult.“” —Richard “Veesh” Krumm

““Joe is probably the most surprising part to me because he sent us a web video he filmed up in his Salinas, California, area, and as soon as I saw it I said, ‘Hold up, we need this in the video.‘” —Richard “Veesh” Krumm

Cult – “Small Talk” Intro & Iz Pulido Sections

September 6, 2014

Here’s one I’m sure a ton of you have been waiting for! Cult have begun uploading sections from the “Small Talk” DVD for you guys to enjoy! Up top is the intro and down below is Iz Pulido’s section that’s jam packed with style out on the streets. Take a peek!

““The classification between amateur and professional in BMX has been discussed and debated, but never clearly defined. While the lines are still a little blurry, if we can agree that a professional includes a paycheck and a certain level of experience and skill, then we’re halfway there. So what is an am? “Iz’s riding can sometimes surprise you. I’ve know him for years, but even on this project some of the spots and tricks he’d call out were out of nowhere and made for an interesting video clip. He also stepped up and helped plan trips and would grab the camera to shoot awesome photos that you’ve probably seen on the Cult site.”

Animal – Chris Silva 2014 Edit

September 3, 2014

Check out this brand new one of Chris Silva for Animal Bikes! As always, Chris comes through with some unique and creative riding! Hell yeah!

“Chris Silva came through big-time by hitting us up with his latest joint for Animal. The dude is a true street rider… always cruising around and tinkering with interesting set-ups that he happens to come across. Chris is also holding down the pegless handrail game, something you don’t see as much these days with the popularity of 4-peg technical combos. Toronto, Canada offers some interesting spots and Chris handles biz.

“Basically the edit is a bunch of clips I was sitting on through 2012/13/14, haha. I sit on footage for a long time… Just stuff filmed while rolling around by whoever was there to film it, that’s how it happened.” – Chris Silva

Song: The Monkees- You and I
Filmers: Chase Davidson, Chijioke Okafo, Chris Cadot, Charlie Crumlish, Michael Baker, Peter Dai, George Carijutan.

Neighborhood BMX – Long Beach Street Jam

August 29, 2014

Check out highlights from the street jam that went down in Long Beach thanks to Aaron Bostrom and Neighborhood BMX! Looks like it was a good day loaded with some amazing riding!

“Neighborhood BMX has been integral in holding the Long Beach scene together for years now… this street jam being a prime example as to how. Rider / contest course designer / shop owner Aaron Bostrom has been in the game long enough to know what’s good, so to keep things “chill”, he went with a strict word-of-mouth approach when it came to spreading the news. With no real goal besides cruising the city for a fun-filled day of street jibbin’, you could tell the sessions were going to be awesome from the very first meet-up spot. If you don’t already know, Long Beach is a huge BMX hub, so scores of local shredders like Eric Lichtenberger, Sean Morr, Aaron Bostrom, Vonty Poh, Josh Delcour, and Garrett Reeves were on hand. To make things even better a few Fit dudes like Dan Conway, Jared Swafford, Troy Blair, and Joel Barnett were also in the area for the Holy Fit premiers. Needless to say, the crew was dialed, the vibes were on point, and some amazing bike riding went down.” – Ride BMX
