Catching Up with Shawn McIntosh

Ride BMX caught up with Shawn McIntosh for a super chill session at one of the smallest prefab parks I’ve ever seen to talk about what’s new and get a few clips. Take a peek at what went down.

“Shawn recently made the move from industry-heavy Long Beach back to his homeland of Oregon to help out at Windell’s Camp. Well, after the recent Primo Blazers trip, he decided to jump in the van and head down with the team to spend a few days in Cali. When we talked about filming this, we were just supposed to stop off at this little park for a few minutes to meet up with some people, but it turned into a couple hour-long flat rail saga ending with Shitty’s chain giving up the ghost. But, in between grinds, Shawn talks about filming for the Fit video with Pat King, his inability to relax, and a few other topics. All hail Jeff Z for coming through with the banger!” – Ryan Fudger

2013 Mongoose Jam Highlights

If you some how managed to miss out on what went down during the Mongoose jam over the weekend, here’s a little highlight reel that Ride BMX dropped for you to check out. This one covers everything from dirt to park and street so hit that play button and take it all in.

“The 2013 Mongoose Jam went down at Woodward East in beautiful Woodward, Pennsylvania, last weekend. Mongoose team captains Steve McCann, Kevin Peraza, Ben Wallace, Greg Illingworth, Cam White, and Paul Ryan all chose four pro riders to team up with them and compete in dirt, park, and street events for a combined $50,000 prize purse. The team-based format of this contest lead to a great, light-hearted week full of friends and BMX at Camp Woodward. Check the highlights from the three day jam.

The Skatelite Retreat

This is rad. Skatelite recently built a new park on an island and decided to throw a massive party to celebrate the completion. Take a look at this video Ride BMX dropped from the weekend giving you a look at some of the locals getting their first sessions in at the park along with a few guys like Mat Hoffman, Dennis McCoy, Zack Warden and more all getting down on the vert ramp. Looks like it was a great time!

“Dubbed The Retreat, Skatelite invited out top BMX and skate pros to San Juan Island to have a week of fun, including wake boarding, whale watching, and everything in between. Truly a retreat, everyone was set up in their own luxury vacation rentals and treated with nothing but good times. The reason for all of this? Skatelite wanted to christen a public park that they built (for free!) on neighboring Lopez Island in a proper way. So they brought in top pros, assembled the X Games vert ramp, invited some bands, and threw one hell of an event for the locals. To put it in perspective, I’m fairly certain I had one of the best 48 hours in recent history over on an island that I didn’t know existed off the coast of Washington. Really. Cheers to Skatelite for doing something great for a community that didn’t have access to a park. And look for ‘em to do it again next year…
