Ruben Alcantara Fingers Crossed Video Bike Check
We’ve been getting more and more looks at the Fingers Crossed bike that Ruben Alcantara dreamt up and figured out how to get built in past videos, and many of you were curious how he built the bike. Ruben decided to put together a little video bike check giving you a closer look at his setup that was built up from a bunch of different parts, along with some modifications to make it work! Based on the end of the video, it sounds like Ruben is working on getting these put into production so you coul buy it as a complete or get a kit to build your own, which is rad. We don’t know when that will be, but it sounds like it’s going to happen. Hit play and take a look at this full suspension BMX bike that looks like a ton of fun to ride!

Flybikes – Ruben II Grips
Get a look at the new Ruben II grips from Flybikes…
Over the years we’ve seen A LOT of products come and go from brands all over the world. One line of products that have stood the test of time have been the Ruben Alcantara signature line from Flybikes. The Ruben grips and Ruben Pedals have been apart of their line up for quite some time now and they really haven’t had too many changes made behind some small tweaks or adding a plastic version of the pedals for the riders who don’t prefer metal pedals.
After 15 years of production, Ruben decided he wanted to try out something new with his signature Ruben grips and went to work with Flybikes to create a new version of the grip that kept a similar pattern and feel, but had some key improvements. The Ruben II grips have a similar look, but an even better feel. They’ve removed the taper from the end of the grips, made the ribs on the grip thinner, taken the diameter down a bit to 29mm, and added a unique 45mm diameter flange that tapers with a mushroom pattern to give it a really comfortable feel.
The Ruben 2 grips have a 160mm length with a soft 25-degree rubber durometer and come in colors of Black and Gum with a $10 price tag. For those of you worried about the weight of your grips, these weigh in at 3.95 oz. (112 grams). You can pick these BMX grips up through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Flybikes worldwide and online now, or direct from the Flybikes webstore now!

Fingers Crossed – Episode One
Here’s one we’re sure a bunch of you have been waiting for! The first episode discussing just what Fingers Crossed is all about! This video gets insights from Ruben Alcantara, Garrett Byrnes, Mike Bennett and Ari Cruz about these crazy BMX bikes modified to use suspension and bigger tires so you can ride on MTB trails, or regular BMX trails / spots with a little extra comfort. Not only that, but there’s a ton of great footage from sessions and a good look at the bikes! It’s a little bit crazy, but it’s an interesting idea and they seem to be really stoked on it.

Ruben Alcantara Discusses Fingers Crossed BMX
The other day a video surfaced online giving us the first look at Fingers Crossed, a new suspension BMX bike project that Ruben Alcantara, Garrett Byrnes and a few others have been working on. The video got a lot of attention, and there were A LOT of questions that came up from how are these bikes being made, will they go into production, what is the point of the bikes and more. The crew at Ride UK caught up with Ruben for an interview where he discusses all of those things in better detail, answering pretty much all questions we’ve seen pop up. You can check the interview out right here. You can also check out the promo video again below!
