Nick Jones caught up with Matty and Scotty Cranmer to do an interview with them for a school project. Find out a little bit more about Matty and Scotty along with some real good riding footage.
“Day 1 – It was an awesome kick off to the CREATED TO DESTROY TOUR. Our first stop was at Scotty Cranmer’s Skatepark – INCLINE CLUB in Jackson, NJ. It was packed with shredders! There is so much talent there. The locals rode hard with the FOX team and had a blast. Scotty was on fire, and showed he has been putting in work at his home spot. Thanks to the INCLINE staff, Cranmer family and all the riders who came out to shred with us.
Day 2 – We hit up the famous LONG ISLAND BICYCLE shop and the BMX scene came out to represent. The local riders got the opportunity to chill and ride with the pros, and some heavy moves went down! LIB is a core shop that knows how to do it… Dean, Julie and the LIB crew put on yet another awesome event. Great turnout and vibes, thanks again!
Day 3 – The final stop of the tour was for BOB’S Grand opening in Northport, LI. They hosted our team demo. The crew from The Bike Doctor of Port Jefferson cooked up some ramps for the crew to shred on… Big thanks to them for that. Under sunny skies, the crew threw down! Scotty Cranmer is definitely ready for the last Dew tour stop, and showed why he is the man. Chase Hawk, Chase Dehart and Russell Barone rode smooth and stylish (as always). The DJ blasted some awesome tunes and the crowd that came out showed appreciation. The BOB’S staff was awesome and the riders stuck around for an in-store signing and CULT bike give away. Jack was the proud winner, and so psyched on his new bike. Overall this demo was a good way for people to experience some real BMX.
Check this edit we put together from the 3 day tour. Big shouts to the riders, locals, shops, and everyone who made it possible. Music courtesy of Rockie Fresh and She Wants Revenge.” – FOX
Scotty Cranmer is a good dude and he definitely kicked some ass this year. Felt sat him down to talk about how he felt (get it) the year went.
“Scotty Cranmer Tops the Park Podium and Earns Dew Cup; Kyle Baldock Wins Dirt and Dennis Enarson Takes Dew Cup
Las Vegas, Nev. – Oct. 15, 2011 – The Dew Tour Championships wrapped up BMX Park and Dirt seasons today under the hot Las Vegas sun. Scotty Cranmer walked away from the park course with the first place finish and his first Dew Cup. Cranmer began his second run knowing that a top score would give him the season win and landed a big tailwhip on the drop in gap, a backflip double tailwhip and a corked 720 down the step down. He threw his bike in the air as the buzzer sounded, knowing his tricks would be good enough to jump ahead of Dennis Enarson’s second place run and Daniel Dhers’ third place effort.
“The Dew Cup is something I thought was out of my reach,” said Cranmer after his win. “I just needed to have faith in myself. I’m at a good place right now, and my family and friends fueled me to get to this point. I’m so grateful for them and this Dew Cup. This is unbelievable.”
Kyle Baldock saved some energy from the BMX Park Final to gain the win on the BMX Dirt course later in the day, riding with a separated shoulder. His top run included a flip bar over the first set, a seven on the second set, frontie third set and three down whip to whip back, marking Baldock’s first BMX Dirt win ever. Ben Wallace made his first career trip to the podium finishing in second place, with Brett Banasiewicz rounding out the podium in third. With consistent dirt riding throughout the season, Enarson’s fourth place finish gave him enough points to come out on top for the Dew Cup.
“To come out and win is crazy,” said Baldock following his win. “I just have a good time and ride. It makes me so happy because I don’t ride dirt much at all, so now I can come be a contender for the Dew Cup next year.”
The Dew Tour Championships continues tomorrow with Skate and BMX Vert on the ramp over the Hard Rock Hotel’s Beach Club pool. The four-day event culminates with a season-end Awards ceremony, turned into a pool party with DJ Mindless Behavior spinning through the afternoon.

“This weekend, the 2011 Dew Tour Championships descend on Las Vegas, Nev., and in the Park Class, Felt pro Scotty Cranmer sits second place in tour rankings, just 18 mere points behind the leader, Mirraco’s Kyle Baldock. It’s a tight race, one that Scotty Cranmer, a very humble professional, is shrugging off.
In the above video, shot just after his win at August’s Portland Invitational (where he took the win), Cranmer discusses his strategy for 2011, which included not riding Dirt and concentrating on Park, and utilizing the entire Dew Tour Park course with a mixed variety of tricks, while going faster than most other riders in the class.
Clearly, Scotty’s strategy has paid off, but now, as the Dew Tour Championships approach, he sits in a precarious position. Can he best Baldock in Vegas and take the Dew Cup? All that and more will be answered this weekend at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.” – ESPN
Here’s a highlight reel of the Dew Tour Portland park finals that went down yesterday. Plenty of bangers.
“Portland, Ore. – August 13, 2011 – Scotty Cranmer and Kyle Baldock battled it out to the last minutes of the BMX Park Final at the Portland Invitational. Cranmer broke through to finish first with a run that included a tailwhip to no-footed can-can, a no-handed front flip and a flip double whip over the hitching post – the banger that ended his run. Cranmer’s final score of 92.00 allowed him to pull ahead of Baldock’s 91.38. Daniel Dhers rounded out the podium in third place. This was Cranmer’s first win since Salt Lake City in 2007, and his fifth Dew Tour win overall.
“I watched the replay and it still doesn’t make sense that I actually landed it,” said Cranmer of his flip double whip. “My foot felt like it was miles away and somehow made it to the pedal. It was in God’s hands – I thank him for it. But also, none of my friends got hurt today and I thank God for that more than anything.”
Tonight’s BMX Park Final marked the second stop of the event on this season’s Dew Tour. The current rankings stand until the riders compete for the Dew Cup at the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., October 13-14. Following their strong finishes in Ocean City, Cranmer, Baldock and Dhers have placed themselves as top contenders for the 2011 BMX park Dew Cup. “If I did somehow get the Dew Cup, it would be fantastic,” said Cranmer. “It would be something amazing to check off the list. I’ve got 2nd place before, so I’d love to get 1st, but either way, I’m psyched. Let’s just live in this day.”
