The Vans U.K team consisting of Matt Priest, Ben Hennon, Zack Williams, Phil Aller, Tobias Wicke, Dan Lacey, Bas Keep, Kevin Kalkoff and Bruno Hoffmann invaded Texas. This is just a teaser of what’s to come, but it’s looking to be amazing. Get psyched for this one!
Banned @ Vans
The Banned crew went for a session at the Vans skatepark. I guess they wouldn’t let them film there, so they had to sneak the camera in? Weird…

Vans Video Vault: Scotty Cranmer – More BMX Videos
Scotty Cranmer, with the help of some guy, talks a little bit about his signature colorway shoe from Vans and then proceeds to drop some hammers. The last clip/photo sequence is so ridiculous.
Insight: Shadow Conspiracy X Vans Collaboration
A little over a week ago, I had a care package show up on my doorstep from Vans. I had an idea of what was inside, but I wasn’t sure. Back in October The Shadow Conspiracy had hit me up asking for my shoe and shirt size. They wouldn’t say why they needed it or anything. I knew something was up, and I found out at Interbike in September that the two brands were doing a collaboration. Fast forward to February and the shoes released with a ton of coverage from all angles. So when it showed up on my door step in April I was surprised since I didn’t know I would be getting anything. I decided to put together some photos and info to give you some Insight on the goods. I’ve also compiled some of the past features. Let’s take a look…

Vans – Pass the Bucket with Stephen Murray
“June 22, 2007 marked a day that the Action Sports world will remember for a lifetime. A day that has forever changed the life of professional BMX rider & three time U.S. Gold Medalist, Stephen Murray. In the midst of doing a double back flip, Stephen Murray crashed while competing in the BMX Dirt Finals at the Dew Actions Sports Tour, in Baltimore, Maryland. It was quoted as being “one of the worst crashes seen in BMX” and one that would ultimately be career ending for this incredibly talented, 27 year old athlete.Fully paralyzed, Stephen now lives a different reality, but see’s it as a platform to help others. Through his “Stay Strong” foundation and missioner determination, Stephen surprisingly finds a powerful way to pass the bucket.

The Hunt
Today, The Hunt was announced. What the hell is The Hunt? Well, it’s a new project from the mind of Justin Kosman with the help of Odyssey, Vans and Monster to motivate some of the best filmers in the world to produce one hell of a video.
The site dropped today with an almost secretive approach to what’s going on. The Mission statement on the site is the only real clue as to what’s going on. The only thing I can think of in the past that is similar to this, is the old Aspire video contests, and even then the money and invite wasn’t there. Check out the mission statement from the site..
“The Hunt is the new arena for independent BMX productions. With nearly $10,000 in cash and prizes, it’s a project that our sponsors believe in. We also believe that all riders should have a say in who wins – that’s why after the field is narrowed down to twenty semi-finalists, the fate of the DVD will be left in the hands of the people. Not all videos should die a quick death on the internet, that’s why releasing the top ten video parts on a limited edition DVD. The contest is open to an invited number of filmers and riders from around the world. If you feel like you have a shot at this and haven’t been invited, please e-mail a link to a sample vid or the idea for your video part to [email protected]. Otherwise, you’ll be hearing from us.”
The $10,000 prize break down can be found by hitting this LINK. There’s a long list of filmers that popped up as to who could have been invited, but I really couldn’t say who is for sure in or out. There’s also probably going to be 500 people submitting to get involved.
There is also an interview with Justin on Defgrip about what The Hunt is all about.
All the information that’s available about The Hunt can be found at TheHuntBMX.com with more clues coming in from their twitter @TheHuntBMX.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes because it can only go well. Expect more when there’s more to be found.
Jon Wells Bike Check
Jon Wells is a legend in BMX. If you ever have the chance to meet him, you will understand (depending if he’s Jonathan or Jon). The only man to brawl at the Belmar, and a constant road tripping machine could describe him well. During the day, Jonathan handles Sun Ringle, and at night Jon brings out the best stanky leg. On the recent trip to Toronto, I shot some photos of his bike and forced him to stop working so hard and answer some questions. Check out Jon’s new Tree along with a few random photos I shot of Jon this past year or so.
Name: Jon Wells (off work) Jonathan Wells (at work)
