Vince Byron takes the gold once again in X Games 2018 BMX Vert finals…

Last night the 2018 X Games officially kicked off in Minneapolis. Things got heated up as they went straight into BMX vert finals with no shortage of talent stacked on the deck. After the dust settled, Vince Byron took the win with Jamie Bestwick taking second and Zach Newman taking 3rd place. Above is a look at Vince’s winning run and below you can find Jamie and Zach’s best runs as well!

Zach Newman – That Sucked

About two weeks ago, we posted a clip of Zach Newman trying a HUGE gap at Ollies Skatepark, but coming up short and slamming pretty hard. It was pretty gnarly, but he luckily didn’t get hurt other than a few bruises. Zach mentioned there were a few more angles from it and he would send those over when he got them. Today is the day! Take another look at a crazy gap gone wrong… That sucked.

Zach Newman tries to push the limits of what’s possible with probably the wildest transfer attempt ever at Ollies skatepark. You’ve probably already seen the other crash clip (embedded again below). Here are the other angles from my cameras, including a helmet cam shot. I can only assume Zach is a superhuman because he walked away from this. Legend in my book for sure!

Zach Newman Goes The Distance and Comes Up Short

Most of us have been in this position, probably nowhere as gnarly as this though! Zach Newman isn’t scared to go fast and send a big gap, but things don’t always go to plan. The other day Zach decided to send a gap that he has been thinking about for a while at his local skatepark. It’s a step up, over a rail, over a fence and into a halfpipe. It appeared to be about a 30 foot gap, maybe a little more. Zach cranked his ass off from the other side of the park, but ended up coming up just short and ended up taking a slam that was far from pleasant. I guess the fence almost did it’s job of keeping him from going over, right? Either way, Zach ended up alright, luckily. Nothing too serious beside a few bumps and bruises! Take a peek and prepare for your jaw to drop.

Zach Newman – Frostbike Cruising

We had a feeling Zach Newman would be putting out a video from his trip up north for Frostbike the other weekend. The annual tradeshow at QBP was once again far from frosty with some sunny skies and 60+ degree temperatures, which is rare for February (It was -20 one year during Frostbike for example). Zach cruised through the show then made sure he got plenty of time cruising a few spots during his stay. Here’s a look at what he got into! Looks like it was a good time minus a run in with the cops.

“I traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota recently for a work trip for Frostbike, a bicycle trade show at Quality Bicycle Products. I took my bike and found some fun little things to do around the Mall of America. Self filmed so I figured the lack of music represented the sessions.”

Ever wondered what goes into a photoshoot at Woodward East? It might not be quite as intense as this video makes it out to be with the song selection, but Zach Newman and Douglas Leite de Oliveira spent a day cruising around the place snapping photos last summer. We’re always pumped when Zach Newman drops a new video because we never quite know where it’s coming from and what he’s riding.
