Tammy McCarley Coalition Bio

A few weeks back Matt Colisch from Coalition hit me up about helping them out with some questions for their website revamp. We figured it would be cool to do interviews with team that were quick and painless and then have them go up here and then on the Coalition site as their bios. Over the course of the next week or so we will be dropping one team riders bio a day. So, let’s kick this party off with Tammy!

Name: Tyler “Tammy” McCarley

Nicknames: Tammy McBarnie, Party Barnie, Tam Tam, Bug

Age: 19

Location: San Diego

Sponsors: Coalition, Sunday, Kings Ride Shop, Nike6.0, ++

Years riding: 6

Favorite Coalition product?
Hopefully these Tammy Tires I want to get going, but the Piffbot seat is awesome.

Favorite Coalition team member? Matt (DAD) Colisch

San Diego has one of the best scenes in the world for BMX, what’s your favorite part about the place?
Weather is without a doubt prime, but the nice friendly vibe that usually goes around when riding.

What’s your favorite part about going everywhere else?
New sights, new sounds, new people, new smoke, new shred zones, new party!

If you could load a van with 5 people and a big budget. Who would you bring and where would you go?
My brother Lahsaan Kobza of course. Gary young for the happiness. Kyle hart for the loud partying. Drew York for the rowdy dad. Satan and a big beautiful lady for all of us. We would buy a 6 or 9 person van with our budget and shred it wherever the hell we wanted to go. Those dudes and that party would leave me to not care where we ended up for riding. Need a bigger van or gotta get lypo for some of these big beautifuls. Need more friends!

I know you have been in the knee club for a while. How much has that impacted your riding over the years?
Yeah, this knee club thing is kinda rough. I tore my patellar, MCL and ACL pretty badly, I guess. I got my patellar reconstructed and had to wait 8 months to get my second surgury for a cadaver ACL. So the process of being able to shred again was at the very least a year and a half. It’s coming up on two years now and my knee feels a lot better of course but still not fully there or like it used to. I’ve been working out and physical therapy is definitly a good thing on my knee and mind because going through all this has definitely put some dumb stressful thoughts into my head. It can be and feel scary. I’ve definitely just been making sure I don’t overdo myself or push in any direction I don’t really want to go until I feel 169% about my knee again. Crazy shit!

Word association….
Piffed – The act of smoke being inhaled by two party lungs ready to boogie!

BMXfu – Kickass dudes, kickass company, kickass party

Kings Ride Shop – The best bmx shop! If you wanna party, go there. Mailorder boofin out soon!

69 – Never wine ’em and dine ’em, only 69 em!

Fun/Party – right now/all the time

You’re pretty notorious for your presence on the web video game lately. What’s been the motivation behind filming so much lately?
There’s a game? Glad I’m not in! haha. Well, when I got broke off I picked up a great passion for filming and always wanted to get a camera and a computer and a program and start the party editing haha. Matt Colisch retired his craptop to me and so Lahsaan and I started smoking all the fun times in San Diego. Lurkin’ around filming jib nugs everywhere. Shit was and still is so much fun. Some memories that will piff a lifetime for me. Simply the fun and passion for bmx is the motivation!

Have you been working on filming for anything other than web edits lately?
Yes and no. I was living in Tulsa for a couple months and got a bunch of filming done out there for a few different things like the ++rip and some Tuesday partys. I just got back about a week ago and have plans to start working on some Sunday and Coalition stuff. I’m going to be trying real hard to stay active with my sponsors through the little productive things I’m able to get my hands on out here haha. If that made any sense. Anyways…party!

Some of your favorite riders you look to for inspiration?
Gary Young, Lahsaan Kobza, Kyle Hart, Steven Mack, Hoang Tran, people who smile, everyone!

What was the scariest moment in BMX for you?
Getting blown out from a bail out. God dammit!

Looking back over the years, what would you say BMX has made you?
A really really happy dude. It sucks at times lately when life forces my focus to something else just enough to distract me and make me realize how much I want to live through and for BMX. I’m pretty sure others feel the same when I say I’ve been given the most satisfying good times from BMX since its been in my life and I can’t have that disappear. I really do wish I had some extra support to live and be able to be more productive with riding as much as I’d like to be, but none of that could ever do anything but strengthen my feelings for this party! SHIT I LOVE RIDING! Let’s party. cheers++

Do you work at all?
No, I don’t. I’m in the midst of lazily looking for a part-time job cause just that tiny tiny bit of money I want to get riding around being more productive is exactly what I need. Everyone needs that finacial support obviously and I’m finding it pretty important right now to find some sort of income somewhere. I wish it was a bit easier to find one through BMX. party

What’s up with you traveling around with Miles Rogoish?
Well, a few months back when my living situation was driving me insane out here, Miles offered for me to come live out with him Drew York and others in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I hopped in his car and we partied on out to Tulsa and some other east coast states like Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia. All out filming and partying mainly for the ++rip. I just got back after a 2 month or so stay out there and what an experience! It was fun being in new surrounding with a bunch a super kickass dudes.haha ++

What makes for a good night out for you?
Ready to party friends, some Colt 69’s, and the “I didnt go to the bar” sentence in my wallet haha. No, the bars are rad but not as kickass as a cheap rowdy night with the friends involving broken shit and maybe some fire or something. The unpredictable or unknown is always a good night

Approximately how many women does it take to satisfy one Tammy?
One BIG beautiful woman!

Last movie you watched, song you heard, and website you visited?
The one I made…best ass time with my best ass friends haha, Suicide Nation-At the Gates, fuckin’ Facebook

Where do you see yourself in a few years? What about tonight?
I see myself having the time of my life completely involved and flooded with all kinds of BMX action haha. Not so much a million things on my plate but the 6 or 9 plates that I want to have in front of me will be nice and freshly washed or will be shattered on the ground with the leftover mustard. Both good! Tonight I see food, piff, and hopefully a call from someone wanting to boogie.

Anything else you want to say?
Party hard, shred harder,Rat Dick, Steak Tits, Satan Sticks… a lot to say. Huge thanks to everyone who supports me! Matt Colisch and Coalition, Jim Cielencki and Sunday, James Collela and Kings Rideshop, Mark Losey and Nike, Ty and Miles and the ++ party, my brother Lahsaan Kobza, big beautiful Tarah of mine, Kyle, Hoang, Ohio, Gary and all the San Diego locals that shred with me on a regular basis. There’s too many kickass good people and never enough thanks and appreciation to go around. So, let’s party and keep those cute lil’ feeling piffin around for eternity. 6669. Time to work like I aint gotta party and party like I aint gotta work!
