I know, this is a BMX website… But the number of guys who ride BMX and motorcycles has always been a pretty high number, especially in the past year or two with a lot of pro’s picking up motorcycles for themselves as well. Last week during the X-Games, I was asked if I would be interested in going for a ride with Chad Kagy, Greg Lutzka, Jossi Wells and a few others on a new bike that Harley Davidson would be releasing in a few weeks… I’d have to be nuts not to take up the opportunity because I’m a big fan of motorcycles, especially Harley’s. So we rolled up on their new Street 750’s…

I’ll be honest, when I first looked at the bike I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. The look of the bike is a little different than traditional Harley’s and they went and built a whole new liquid cooled motor for the bike that had never been used before. But, it is a Harley and I was sure that there was a reason they put the bike together the way they did.

Going for the ride, I remember thinking the bike had a little zip to it for a 750 and that it would probably be pretty easy to get the front wheel off the ground a bit if I really wanted… But it wasn’t my bike and I wasn’t going to find out, haha — I later saw one of the guys get the front wheel off the ground though.
I quickly realized why this bike was designed for riding in the city, it’s easy to maneuver around and turning on tight turns was pretty easy. I kind of wish I actually could have taken my motorcycle test of this bike versus my own thinking about it just now. It would be a sweet bike to start out on or for people who actually commute in the city since it’s not as burly as a 1200 and is real easy to handle.

Once we got the chance to go out on some back roads and really open up the bikes is when I was really sold on the bike. It might only be a 750 and it might be designed for slower city streets and tight turns, but it still has a lot of get up. I definitely caught myself looking down at the speedometer thinking “whoops” more than once since I was going faster than I had thought, haha. I had a lot of fun just running the straight road back and forth a few times seeing what it had in it making me realize how much I liked it.

Overall, I think this new addition to the Harley line up will be a good one and people will be stoked on it. Like I said before, this is a great bike for somebody starting out or somebody who is going to find themselves in a city more than out on a highway (which it definitely can do too). It looks like these bikes will be available in a few weeks and go for around $7,499. You can find out more information about the bike RIGHT HERE.

I’d like to say thanks to Harley, Chad Kagy and everyone who gave me the opportunity to take the bike out. This was a huge highlight for my time spent at the X-Games and Austin this past weekend!
