Anyone who follows BMX closely knows that Stevie Churchill is a kid from the East Coast that absolutely kills it. He is known for doing ridiculously difficult tricks that some pros would hold onto for enders in legit video parts, only he does them in everyday web edits. There is something about his riding that is crazy to watch because he makes everything look so effortless. There isn’t a single rider out there that could disagree with the fact that Stevie is changing the street game as we speak. Not only does he kill it with how technical his riding is but he also mixes in the big moves that would make anyone’s ankles and wrists cringe. He is humble, doesn’t let his talent get to his head and has the skills to be on top of the podium at any street contest out there. I got the chance to chill with him for the day before he headed back East and took some time to fire some questions his way to fill everyone in on what’s going on. Enjoy.
For those out there who don’t know, what is your name, age and hometown?
My name is Steven Churchill, I’m 19, and I’m from Bristol Connecticut.
What were you doing out West in California?
I just went on a TCU trip to Arizona and since then I’ve just been hanging with Chris and Adam at their new place.
How is it staying with Adam22, Chris Long and couch-surfing Catfish?
They are all rapists and I’m a young boy…Not really ha-ha, it’s fun as hell with those guys and it’s always non-stop laughs.
What is the best part about coming out West during the East Coast winter?
Getting away from that crappy New England weather is the number one reason but I like to come out here to see my friends, chill and have a good time.
Would you ever consider living in So Cal like so many transplants before you?
Oh yeah, for sure.
What is your daily routine like back home?
Well since it’s winter right now it’s hard to ride as much as I want to so I’ll usually hit up some friends and chill. If it’s warm enough to ride I am out on my bike.
Who are all of your current sponsors these days?
Right now I ride for Federal, Primo, Dan’s CompThe Gully Factory, OSS, and Shark Attack. And also as of now I am on the newly formed Come Up pro team.
You were riding for DC shoes for a little while until shit hit the fan. What was that experience like as a young rider? That was your first shoe sponsor right?
That was my first shoe sponsor yes. It was a surprise for everyone, but that’s how things go sometimes. What can you do besides just move on?
You kind of blew up in BMX over the last few years and that definitely has something to do with how talented you are on a bike. How did this all come about? Have you always been into BMX?
Jeff Martin and my brother taught me how to ride a bike and bunny hop and basically I’ve been hooked ever since.
Since you are part of the younger generation of riders who did you look up to as a young up and comer and who inspires you these days?
Garrett Reynolds.
I know that you are pretty much always working on filming something so why don’t you let everyone know what you have in the works.
I am filming for the Dan’s Comp DVD, 4k356, and my welcome to Federal edit.

One of the next things on your list is a trip to Estonia for your first Simple Session. What are your expectations going over there and what are you looking forward to most? The riding, the partying, the girls or all three?
I can’t wait to ride but I’m definitely looking forward to the whole experience.
How has filming for the Dan’s Comp DVD been going?
It’s been going alright so far, but I still have a bit to film.
How is it working with a true legend behind the lens like Stew Johnson?
Stew is a true G, I love that fool.
The way you ride is kind of crazy, it’s as if every trick that you do is almost “easy” for you. What’s the deal with that?
I guess since I started riding so young it’s just natural at this point.
What is the secret to hop whips for all of the curious readers out there?
You have to make sure you get a good hop and commit.
