I don’t know if it’s the fresh clean paint or the chance to start over new with a bike that hasn’t been through hell and back or what, but it’s a nice feeling. The other day Will Blount found himself rolling around on a fresh new Credence setup and damn did it turn out good. So it looks like you just built yourself up a fresh rig and it appears that you are getting the hook up from S&M Bikes now. How did that all come about?
I wouldn’t say I ride for them. We are all just good friends trying to have fun and build sweet shit in the woods and I’m down to rep what Credence is all about!
I’d imagine it’s pretty rad to be able to ride for Clint Reynolds since you guys have been good friends for a long time, huh?
I recently parted ways with Sunday bikes and the first thing on my mind was a Credence frame. Clint is one of the smartest and most kick ass dudes I know so I hit him up and he made magic happen!! I can’t be anymore stoked on my new rig! Thanks so much Reynolds!
Let’s talk a little more about your setup. It looks like you’re sticking to the classic trails look for this bike. What are some of the parts of the bike you’re really stoked on?
Reynolds sure knows how to modify up the ingredients for a one of the best feeling frames I’ve ever had. I’m stoked on the classic look of the turtleneck stem as well!
Does your setup change much as far as how you’re running things or are you pretty consistent?
I feel like they’re all pretty consistent. Sometimes I take the brakes off and put 4 pegs on though. HAHA JUST KIDDING!
Are you pretty particular about PSI or where your bars are or does that stuff not really bother you much?
Anywhere from 80-100 PSI for maximum roast!
I’d imagine you keep the brakes for a couple reasons, right? Have you ever considered taking them off or is that just something you could never see yourself doing?
The thought has never crossed my mind. I think riding cement would be fun but I would be way to terrified rolling up to a new set of trails that I had never ridden before brakeless. That has eating shit written all over it for me.
I noticed you’re running the classic railed seat. What is it about that style of seat that keeps you running it versus Pivotal or the new Tripod seats?
I’m a bigger dude an always would bend the front of pivotal seats down or strip the post out when Pivotal seats just came out. Times have changed though so they are probably a lot stronger these days. I’ll still stick to the old school railed seats though because they can take a serious beating in my book!
Based off the frame and all the fresh parts from Odyssey, I’d imagine this whole bike is pretty much new. What’s the oldest part you have on this bike? Any sentimental value to it?
Everything is basically new besides cranks. I’ve been through a lot of cranks and the Thunderbolts by far take the podium spot!
How’s things going in Austin these days? I’d imagine you’re pretty psyched to have the X-Games circus out of the way now?
The Austin life is amazing its laid back and everyone is so stoked at all times. There is never a dull moment in this city! The circus has come and gone until next year, haha!
Speaking of the X-Games. You were one of the builders for the dirt course this year. How stoked were you to see dirt back in the X-Games? Were you pretty happy with how everything went on the build?
The stoke was high on bringing dirt back! The build went very well and everyone seemed so psyched on the course design! I can’t wait to do it again next year an spice it up some more.
You’re working with Dave King and Dirt Sculpt building dirt parks and trails, right? What’s it like building trails for work?
You are correct! It’s a dream come true and I can’t thank Dave enough for the opportunity he has given me! If you would have told me 10 years ago that I would be building the X-Games course I would have never in a million years believed you.
What is your work schedule looking like this summer? Aren’t you guys about to do a pretty lengthy build in July?
We are about to head out to Colorado for a month an build a Pumptrack/ Dirt park in Carbondale!
Do you have any trips or anything planned for riding this summer?
Not at the moment besides getting some Colorado cement sessions in between working. I would love to make it out to the northwest or the northeast though!
Have you been filming at all? I feel like I could use some fresh footage from you!
I slack so hard on filming but would like to piece something together soon.
What have you been getting into when you aren’t riding or building these days? Any new hobbies or cool projects keeping you busy?
Mainly just laying low cruising the Harley with the babe, swimming and soaking up the A/C because its scorching in Texas. Oh Yeah! My fiancé an I just recently got a Blue Heeler pup named “Banjo”. She is so Rad!
