This video is the best to come out in a while. I hope it does not go under the radar since it’s a bike shop video and not a big company video like System Cycle did. System Cycle was excellent but had no promotion and most people don’t even know what System Cycle is; subsequently it sold less than it deserved to and many people never saw it.
The video has an oldschool feel to me because of the mostly rock soundtrack and the no frills style of editing. It doesn’t even have an Intro! Just a list of sponsor logos and than Straight to Van Homan’s section. Why Van’s section is first is confusing since normally the best part is the closing part, but the last section is pretty impressive too… most of the video is. Van’s whole section is solid, and he has a few clips that could have been used as the banger and the section would have felt complete… But Van goes wayyyyy above and beyond and does something I have never seen before. Van’s section alone is worth the price.
Second up is cult favorite Garret Byrnes. It’s been quite a while since he had a full section and surely his fans will eat it up. High speed and smooth sums it up. For me it took a few times watching it to really appreciate what he was doing, possibly because I was still recovering from Van’s part.
Cody Jennings is third and is more of a comedy piece than a riding part, full of drunkenness and falls set to a very fitting song “Only Drink On Days That End in “Y””. In between laughs he does pull some good stuff, including a crankflip on a seesaw; do you really need to know anything else?
Much like Garret Brynes, Wiz also has not had a full section recently that I can think of, and he comes through in some of the most unusual outfits. I’m pretty sure he has a permed mullet in a few clips. I’m not mad at him, I have nothing against riding in ties, dress shirts, cheap shades or red pants (I’d actually like to have some red pants, but I digress). Wiz loves bent posts and does everything possible on them, and if the post isn’t bent yet, He will bend it and then ride it. Once you get past the fashion he puts down some interesting lines that should not be overlooked.
The random section is next and is surprisingly not packed with big names. It is cool though, gives locals and random people they came across some shine and includes their names for good measure.
Darryl Tocco is a name I had seen in print and in photos for a while, but never recalled seeing him in action. Incase you are in the same boat, here’s a general idea of his stuff: He can Barspin anything, manuals great, and has the best lip tricks I have seen since 2003. Rad. Geoff Slattery follows and has amazing flow and style. He makes everything look simple, and has the style that most kids try to have but you can tell his is the real deal.
If you couldn’t tell earlier, I REALLY liked Homan’s section, but here come the 2 parts that rival it in my mind (in entertainment value):
Chase Dehart. While his stuff isn’t death defying like Van, it’s the same style we have come to expect from Chase but up a step from fitlife or anything we’ve seen from him yet. Really fun to watch and is set to a song by The Temptations, which may seem strange but it works really well.
The last part is Randy Brown, another guy I don’t know a ton about, but I’m guessing after this part that will soon change. Randy holds nothing back and launches some huge gaps and hops, but also has a tech side with some impressive nose manuals. All edited very well to the song which goes from fast paced to slow at times perfectly matched up to the wild fast gaps and then the slower tech moves which was a nice touch.
Credits are the normal outtakes, and a continuation of the Cody Jennings comedy show. Bonus has trips to Florida, California and Pittsburg, Some ads for Duo and fit, the last Transam Jam, a section from Innocent Bystander and of course a crash section.
That’s a lot of content.
It’s well worth your money.
