It’s been a little while since we’ve caught up with Colony‘s Front Brake Magician, Bobbie Altiser, so we were stoked to find out he was dialing in a new bike when we hit him up the other day. We figured it would be a good time to take a closer look at his bike and find out what else he has been up to lately! What do you think your bike weighs? I think it probably ways a little over 27lbs.
What are the newest parts on your bike?
The frame, bars, and brakes are the newest parts on my bike.
What about the oldest? Does it hold any sentimental value?
The levers are the oldest thing I have on my bike. Maybe a little bit sentimental.. I saved almost every set of tech 77’s I’ve ran over the years.
Are you pretty particular about your bikes geometry or setup? Do you need any specific top tube length, angles, bar height, seat height or anything or are your pretty flexible?
I used to be really picky.. Earlier this year I switched to a shorter crank set, started running smaller tires, pulled my bars back, and my bike feels better than it ever has.
Being a front brake rider, I’d imagine you’re pretty particular with how dialed in your brakes are. Do you have any tricks or special things you do to ensure you’re locking them up?
Oh definitely, if you brakes don’t work.. what’s the point of having them? Cleaning your rims & pads from time to time & lubing your cables is the answer.
You run the locking brake levers, right? How hard is it to get your hands on those these days? It looks like both of yours have seen better days? I do. I get them straight from porkchopbmx.com, it’s an Old School BMX site. I’m due for a new set, yeah!
How often do you build a new bike up? Are you the kind of person that runs things until they break, or do you try and swap things out before things get bad?
I don’t run anything until it breaks! I’ll usually ride a frame, fork, and bar for about a year. It really just depends on how hard I’ve been riding, too.
Your bike is kept dialed in thanks to Colony. How are things going with them these days? Do you have any trips or projects in the works with them you can tell us about?
Things are going good. Those guys are family to me, wish I could ride with them more. I’ve got my ramps just about finished up and I’m going to start a little video project.
How about things with Cement Face? Do you have anything cooking with Eben Fischer you can tell us about?
To be honest, I haven’t seen him in a few months. I think he is home for the holidays so I’m hoping to catch up with him!
Do you have plans on doing any of your own trips this winter? Maybe somewhere a little warmer?
Unfortunately, no.

I have been filming just a bit, I have a couple of clips in a folder. I’m pretty picky when I am in control of my own clips, maybe you’ll see them.. Maybe you won’t!
What have you been getting into when you aren’t riding these days? Any jobs or hobbies taking up your time?
I’m working construction full time. But in my free time, I’m trying to ride!
