Haro Book Launch / Charity Auction Flyer
“With a continued focus on our unique history, Haro Bikes is proudly set to release volume 1 of our pioneering story in BMX Freestyle at the end of May 2013. Bob Haro founded the Company in 1978, and is regarded as the architect of what is now a celebrated and high profile modern day action sport. “The Rise of BMX Freestyle”, a 144 page hardback book written for Haro Bikes in 2012 by English writer and BMX historian Dom Phipps, tracks the earliest period of the Haro Bikes story with an entertaining perspective on the emerging sport, and the unique characters that energized and drove the early Freestyle movement.
Personal images and recollection from every rider that represented the Haro Freestyle team during the period 1980 – 1986, brings new insight and a real sense of nostalgia. Bob Haro offers his own thoughts and memories of the period in the book forward, and also contributes some images from his own archives. A written perspective from the current Haro Chief; Joe Hawk, concludes the book and reflects on the period with a genuine appreciation for the deep roots that Haro Bikes has in BMX and his desire to make sure it remains an integral part of company culture.
The official US launch of the book will take place at the Bicycle Source, a BMX shop located in Anaheim, California on May 31st. The venue owner, Steve Blackey, offered Haro Bikes the use of the venue, which has a strong historical following, and with over twenty ex Haro riders attending the event, it is sure to be a memorable night. Entry to the event is free, and a number of other initiatives, including the live raffle of the single digit serial numbers of the Haro 30th Anniversary Freestyler frame and fork kits that were produced in Santa Ana in 2012. To participate in the auction, please contact Haro bikes at the following email address; 30thfreestylerauction@harobikes.com. The raffle is open to a worldwide audience on a ticket purchase basis; with the winning tickets being announced live at the event.
The Rise of BMX Freestyle will be available to buy worldwide from the Haro Bikes website on Friday May 31st at a cost of $39.99 (freight, duty, and taxes not included).“- Haro
