Broc Raiford Interview

May 15, 2012

Broc Raiford
“The T-bog photo was taken by Francis Delapena while we were shooting for my Odyssey welcome to the team edit at a DIY skate spot that had been getting built over the last couple months. It’s really fun and is the closest thing we have to an outdoor skatepark in the New Orleans area.”

Over the last few years, Broc Raiford has been popping up more and more with some incredible riding that definitely caught a lot of peoples attention. Recently, he found himself getting picked up by Volume and officially added to the Odyssey team after riding the flow team for a while. Broc is also just about to finish up high school so with all these new things going on, we figured it was due time to get ahold of him and find out more about him. Let’s check out what he had to say!

Shortly after announcing the Tree Bicycle Co. would be discontinuing their production of frames to benefit their team riders, it was announced the Bobbie Altiser had joined the Colony team. Right around that time, it was hard to go a day without footage of Bobbie popping up in one of the edits coming from California. We figured with so much going on lately that it would be a good time to find out what’s new. So let’s check out what he had to say!

Don’t forget to “Like” and Tweet this if you are a fan of Bobbie’s!

Dylan King Interview & Video

April 30, 2012

Filmed and edited by Surrey Steve

There’s something about trails builders and riders that is kind of crazy. I’m sure if you have ridden BMX long enough you have probably met one of the die hard trails guys and know what I’m talking about. These guys love busting their ass to create the most perfect setups and obsess over going higher, further and faster. Deluxe‘s newest Canadian rider, Dylan King, is one of the die hards. This guy lives off trails and I’m sure if he didn’t have a place to live, you would find him camping at the trails too. I figured it would be an awesome time to get to know the guy a little better and it just so happened to had this brand new edit that we are premiering above to go with his full interview. After you check out the video, find out more about Dylan below!

Ryan Ruhl Interview

April 27, 2012

Ryan Ruhl BMX
Interview and Intro by Jeremy Ball
Photos by Chad Ruhl

Ryan Ruhl is silent. He doesn’t say much at all. Ryan looks like a stereotypical bmxer. Tight pants, Empire shirts, and Vans on his feet, but what he doesn’t look like is the stereotypical professional car racer.
Ryan has been described as “one of the most talented up and coming young racers in the Midwest.” What car racing fans don’t know is that he also a professional level bmxer who chooses to learn flairs on quarters rather than into foam. “I can’t carve” is his only response when asked about it.
Literally as I was typing this intro, Ryan walked in with both “Sprint Car & Midget” magazine (note midgets are a type of open wheel car…not what you were thinking) and Ride UK. He is a person who is more than deserving of some recognition, so I thought I would sit down with him and ask him a few questions.

Drawing Board: Shadow Conspiracy Interlock Chain

April 23, 2012

Shadow Interlock Chain
Intro by Kurt Hohberger – Interview by Dave Paterson

Over the years, there have been a handful of products that really stood out and have become “that product” that everyone knows as the perfect example that was eventually reproduced by a handful of other brands with minor tweaks and branding changes. For example, we could look at products like S&M’s Slam Bars, Odyssey’s Twisted PC pedals and Profile’s cranks. There’s one product that I think fits into this category that you without a doubt have either ran on your bike, or know a few people who do. That would be the Shadow Conspiracy‘s Interlock half-link chain. Since its release, it has been duplicated and replicated fairly unsuccessfully by a handful of brands and Shadow have stayed on top with making beneficial tweaks to make it stronger and better than before. Dave figured it was time to catch up with owner Ronnie Bonner to find out more about what exactly makes this chain one of the legendary products of BMX. So let’s take a look and what he had to say…

Three Days In Arizona

April 22, 2012

Interview and photos by Devon Denham

People have been moving out West for hundreds of years now. Settlers traveled in covered wagons with hopes of striking rich during the California Gold Rush in 1848. BMXers have done the same by escaping the frigid winters of the East Coast, and soaking up the sun out in the West. Cory Wiergowski and Nick Bullen did just that, when they decided to up-and-move to the “Scum House” in Phoenix, Arizona. With that being said, lets dig deeper into the thoughts of Nick and Cory. After you check out the interview, don’t forget to check out the PHOTOGALLERY to go with this!

Drawing Board: Profile Cassette Hub

April 19, 2012

BMX bikes have come a long way over the past 20-30 years, from rattling 1 Inch Threaded Headsets and shin searing Beartrap Pedals to investment-cast Dropouts and Pivotal Seats. Along the way there have been several products which have been instrumental to the improvement of our bikes, and at the top of that list is the Profile Cassette Hub. 15 years ago the guys at Profile took a technology used on high-end road bikes and used it to create, what is still to this day one of the most reliable and functional Bicycle Hubs in existence. This week I catch up with Profile Racing‘s Matt Coplon and Corey Alley to find out more about the beginnings and background story one of the most iconic products in BMX. After you check out the interview, don’t forget to check out the PHOTOGALLERY showing you the history of Profile’s hubs!

Chad Kerley and the Vitaminwater Invitational

April 14, 2012

About two weeks back, word about Chad Kerley’s Vitaminwater Pro Invitational at The Bakery started popping up online. Some of the riders invited were firing out tweets of their invitations and talking about how stoked they are for the contest going down on May 12th in Chicago. There really hasn’t been much detail let out about what was going on, so I figured I’d get ahold of Chad and see if he could maybe give us some answers about what to expect from the contest. All I know, is this sounds like it’ll be one of the best events of the summer. Let’s see what he had to say…
