Well, it would appear that 2011 was one busy year for Nathan. He travelled the world, filmed and is filming for multiple video parts, rode a few contests, picked up a few new sponsors, found some time to film and edit a new edit and managed to answer some questions for us. I’m not really sure how he can handle being so busy, but I guess that’s what you gotta do to be a pro these days. I figured with all the newness going on with him, it would be a good time to catch up and find out what’s new. Let’s see what he had to say…

Industry: FBM Welder Joby Springsteen

December 15, 2011

All Photos: Steve Crandall

As many of you may know, a few months back Dave Harrison had made the decision to part ways with FBM to pursue some of his other personal goals. With that happening, FBM’s machine shop had to go through some big changes. “Big” Dave was more than just a welder – he helped build the machine shop from the ground up and was the face of the machine shop for many years. This isn’t an easy spot to fill, but FBM knew just who to go with. So we wanted to check in on things and find out more about the man running the welding show these days, Joby Springsteen. Let’s find out a little bit more about Joby, his job and how the transition has been going…

Simone Barraco Interview

December 14, 2011

There’s no doubt that Simone Barraco has had one hell of a year. I’d say being the newest pro addition to both Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa in the past month or so should be an indicator that he has to be doing something right. With that being said, there was no doubt that Simone was definitely due for an interview on The Union. I hit him up with a few questions so let’s see what he had to say…

Woof, sorry for the slow weekend. I promise I’ve got a bunch of good stuff lined up for this week. Let’s start this good week off with one of BSD‘s newest pro team members and all around street destroyer, Reed Stark. I figured since he’s been chilling for a bit nursing his foot, that it would be a good time to catch up with him and find out what’s new. Let’s see what he has to say. I think some of you might be psyched to hear about some things in the works…

Patrick Best Interview

December 6, 2011

Patrick Best

There’s probably a good number of people saying “who is Patrick Best?” when seeing the title. Well, he’s the man behind the filming, editing and general production of the Welcome To Deluxe video that we had been premiering here the last few weeks. When Patrick isn’t busy working on the second Deluxe video (that’s in the process of being filmed now) or building trails, he works in the design field. I figured there’s a ton of people out there who are into photography, filming and editing and design so this was a no brainer to shoot him a few questions and find out a little bit about his work and how BMX has influenced his life. Let’s check out what he had to say. I think if you are into photography, film or design, this one will be an interesting read…

Alex Magallan

It has been a little while since Alex has been on his bike. A few months back he put a stress fracture in his arm and has been taking it easy since. He recently started cranking around again so I figured with that going on and his section in the Owned video that is finally available, it would be an ideal time to catch up and find out what’s new. Let’s see what he had to say…

Eric LIchtenberger is one of the most chill people I know. Some how during all of this chilling, he has been mega busy with a Ride BMX cover, BMX Plus interview and a fresh signature colorway with Sunday. I figured it would probably be a good time to get an update out of the guy and find out what else is new in his life. Jim Cielencki also hooked it up with a bunch of screen grabs from some video stuff they are working on that looks to be real good. So let’s check out what he had to say…

Insight: Profile Racing’s Push For U.S Job Creation

November 17, 2011

Profile Racing

It’s weird to think how as you get a little older, boring things like politics and economics start becoming interesting. I’ve recently been hearing more and more things that lead me to believe that production in the U.S is coming back. Now, that might not matter to most of you who don’t have your license, a job or pay for your own parts, but it’s a good sign that someday, you might not have to worry about what you are going to do for a job and that you won’t have to hear depressing news on TV everyday about how “they” took our jobs. After reading why Sunday chooses production in Taiwan on ESPN as a response to another article on ESPN about the cost difference between U.S and Taiwan made frames, Matt Coplon and I began discussing the perks to Profile and Madera being made in the U.S versus Taiwan, and how because of this, they are creating around 25 jobs for people between the in-house employees, freelance and outsourced help. Let’s take a closer look at what it takes to run an in-house production BMX brand in the U.S…
