With BMX comes a lot of crashing. There’s no way around it, no matter how good you are… You’re going to take some spills and slams. That’s just part of how it goes. With that being said, it’s never a bad idea to have some protection to keep you from getting cut up, broken and battered from those crashes, slipped pedals or freak instances where you get caught up and going down hard. We recently got our hands on the Alpha Whip / Shin pads, Delta knee pads and Icon helmet from Fuse Protection and figured it would be a good idea to give you guys a closer look at some of the features that make these pads so beneficial. If you’re looking for some new pads or considering that it might be time to start covering up a bit, take a look!

The Icon Helmet from Fuse Protection is designed for BMX specifically. It hasan ABS outer shell and EPS inner foam to help keep your head safe when you’re coming tumbling down. The shell has multiple vent holes to help prevent over heating and the deep fitting design for improved comfort and protection doesn’t have a “dorky” look to it. There’s a quick release strap making it easy to adjust and optional foam padding for a more custom fit. The Icon helmet is available in sizes of extra small – small, small – medium, medium – large and large – extra large with color options of glossy black and glossy white.
The high impact ABS outer shell and EPS inner foam give you optimal protection without sacrificing comfort.
The straps are quick release, so they’re easy to adjust for a proper fit. Having the strap fitting snuggly is important so it doesn’t just fall off when things get crazy.
There are vents on the back, top and front giving you maximum airflow. There’s nothing worse than feeling like you have an oven on your head. This helps keep the cool air coming in and the hot air rising out.
Delta Knee Pads
The Delta knee pad is designed give full protection without sacrificing movement. The pads are made from a breathable perforated Duratex neoprene with air plush lining, dual layer lycra on the back. This has a soft inside and durable outside shell to hold up to the wear and tear. Inside you can find the EVA Foam back and Fuse Protection’s “DFS” memory foam under a polyamide soft cap. This memory foam actually becomes more flexible once the pad warms up, making it easier to bend and flex. You can find a Sharkskin neoprene gripper to help keep the pad in place and upper and lower straps for a snug fit and to help keep the pads in place as well.
The Delta knee pads are available in sizes of small, medium, large, extra large, extra extra large and even a Kids size for the young guns out there that are just starting out.

Alpha Shin / Whip Pads
The Alpha Shin and Whip pads are made from a breathable perforated neoprene and Duratex with air plush lining and super stretch perforated neoprene straps. The front of the pad uses a highly durable Corder material with a concealed inner pocket that holds a hard nylon shin pad to take the grunt of abuse when those pedals come bashing into your shin. On the inside of your leg on both pads, you can find a thicker padding to help with catching tailwhips. Everyone who does Tailwhips knows that you gotta slow the bike from spinning while catching the bike with your legs, and this helps to reduce the blow and give your leg some extra padding. The straps are shaped to contour your leg muscles giving a more comfortable fit while holding the pad in place snug.
The Alpha Shin and Whip pads are available in small, medium, large, extra large and extra extra large. There’s also a kids size available for the young guns on these pads as well.
