Just spotted some news over on Can You Dig It that needs to get spread. A little over two weeks ago, Mike Saavedra broke his leg REALLY bad and has undergone a few surgeries to get things back together. Needless to say, the medical expenses piled up quickly and there is a GoFundMe setup to help raise some cash to help him out! If you got a few bucks to spare, please donate or at least pass the news along! Thanks!
“At the beginning of October I suffered a serious injury while riding trails in PA by rolling my left leg under my bike after slipping a pedal. I was taken to UMPC in Pittsburgh and treated for a severe break of the tibial and fibula. I was rushed into emergency surgery. Due to the intense level of swelling the doctors we’re capable of diagnosing Compartment Syndrome early on and we’re successful in saving my leg.
After 18 long days in the hospital, 1 titanium rod and 3 procedures later, I am finally getting released today. But not without a long road of recovery ahead. Due to the level of trauma my leg sustained from such a high energy impact I will be required to receive months of follow-up care.
I turn to the BMX community and ask for your support. Rather it’s monetary or good vibes and positive thoughts all is welcome and greatly appreciated.
I look forward to the journey ahead with a new appreciation and perspective for the simple things. . .” – GoFundMe
