Check out this video I spotted over on 2020 BMX Magazine‘s site. This is a DVD that came out two years back from a BMX and skate trip some friends took to Nepal… Now, I don’t know about you but I don’t exactly think Nepal when I think BMX trips, but then again this goes to prove that maybe I need to start thinking a little more creatively travel wise. This video is more than just riding, it’s also a huge look into the way they do things in Nepal. So much different than here. Definitely watch this!
“In 2011 five friends met in Nepal to skateboard, ride BMX and trek through the Himalayan Nation. Initially I was taking my bike on this trip but four months prior I crushed a vertebrae in my back snowboarding. Greg had torn ligaments in his ankle that still needed time to heal. Riding was out of the question for both of us. Instead of opting out we decided to document as much of the trip as possible. I filmed everything and Greg photographed the antics.
After a very long editing process we finished the video, and released it as a DVD with accompanying photo book. The key concepts of the venture was no profit, no sponsors and use recycled materials wherever possible. As a secondary goal we didn’t want our video to fall into the BMX/skateboarding web-edit, homogenization vat. Both Greg and I are very happy with the result.
I hope you enjoy the video and it inspires you to go for a roll somewhere out of the ordinary.- Sam Dowley
