Is it time for a new BMX Sprocket? The crew at Odyssey have released their new Utility Guard Pro Sprocket for you to get your hands on. This BMX sprocket is a re-design of two of their classics from the 90’s and early 2000’s; the Havok sprocket pocket which had a plastic guard (crazy how old sprockets had plastic guards, right?) and the original Utility Sprocket. Odyssey have taken both of these classics to create one badass guard sprocket that can hold up to the level of riding going down on bikes these days.

The Utility Guard Pro Sprocket is made from 7075-T6 aluminum with a six spoke design with 5 bolt holes that are threaded for the guard and one larger hole for your crank arm sprocket bolt. The replaceable guard is made from a proprietary plastic developed by Odyssey that can take plenty of abuse with enhanced durability and smoother grinds. They’ve also designed it to be compatible with all BMX chains, so you shouldn’t have to worry about rubbing.

You can pick up this sprocket in 25 and 28-tooth sizes. There is also a larger 30-tooth size, but that isn’t compatible with the guard. Quite honestly, if you’re going with a 30-tooth sprocket, you probably aren’t worried about doing too many grinds anyway! You can pick the sprocket up for $47.99 through BMX shops and mail-orders like Source BMX that carry Odyssey worldwide now!

If you need a replacement guard, you can also buy those separately for $9.99 through shops and mail-orders like Source BMX that carry Odyssey as well. The kit comes with the guard and replacement bolts, which is helpful to keep everything looking fresh.
