John Lee – The BMX In Our Blood Podcast: Part 1

March 13, 2019

Here’s a fresh episode of The BMX In Our Blood Podcast to check out! This time around Joe Doherty caught up with John Lee to talk about being the nicest guy in BMX, FBM, recovering from a crash that landed him in the hospital, riding, family and more! John is a pretty low key, behind the scenes guy, but he’s always been doing amazing work! This is a super good listen, so hit play and enjoy!

“FBM’s John Lee IS the nicest guy in BMX! Part one of this interview is loaded with emotion as well stories of overcoming trauma through his caring friends and family. There was so much important content to this part 1 podcast that we decided to quit at midnight and finish it up in a few weeks. The questions from you listeners are ready to go!
John Lee is arguably the most inspiring BMXer I have had the opportunity to interview. If you don’t know John or know him but want to learn more, it’s all in here. I was so taken back by his emotion as he talked about his family and friends being there for him from the time of his accident (which he describes in detail). What a great way to kick off the podcast after a month of reflecting, healing and refocusing my personal goals in podcasting.
You can find John at fbmbmx.com or on IG at @popboy905
You can find me on IG at @gromdad2000 or on thebmxinourblood.com where you will also find past episodes and ways to support the podcast.” – Joe Doherty

“California may be the dream location for many riders but the reality of making a video there means dealing with private property, cops and security on the regular.

Leezy spent 3 weeks there filming and 3 weeks getting kicked outta spots…

Guest clips from Denim Cox, Reed Stark and Jeff Cadger.

Filmed and edited by Tony Malouf.”

United – The Purge Stem

March 12, 2019

Is it time for a new BMX Stem? Here’s a look at the new The Purge stem from United. The stem looks like your regular topload stem, but they’ve actually designed it so the front of the top plate actually touches the bottom of the stem where normally that isn’t something you want to do. They’ve done this to improve clamping and helps ensure that your bars are even. Get the full scoop from United below!

“Everyone knows that resetting your bars is the worst possible thing. It takes forever for your mind to agree that the bars feel how they did before slipping. We wanted to design a stem that clamped tight and evenly at that. We had seen stem bolts snap from a rocky plate and uneven tightening. With the PURGE stem we wanted strength and durability so we went with a fully CNC 6061 Ali block including a CNC’d United graphic on the side. You will notice the clamping system clamps completely shut up front. This is to stop the uneven tightening. Simply tighten the front bolts to lock your bars in place evenly then clamp down on the back to fully secure your bars in place.

The stem comes with a 49mm reach and a 34mm rise. Giving you the option to ditch those ugly headset spacers and tidy up the look of your bike.” – United

Color: Black or Polished.
Material: Full CNC Machined 6061 Alloy
Reach: 49mm
Rise: 34mm

Dirt Bros. – Brad Blanchard “Cheese” Section (1994)

March 12, 2019

It’s that time for another banger of a section from the Dirt Bros. “Cheese” video from 1994! This time around we get Brad Blanchard‘s section that is packed with flips, big 360’s and 720’s, huge gaps and more. Brad absolutely crushed it for this section and even after all these years there’s still a bunch of wild clips that would be crazy even today. Take a look!

“Huge chasm jumps, 720s on street, beyond clicked turndowns, mag wheels, and a Christian punk soundtrack alerting listeners to the ills of masturbation – Brad Blanchard’s section from Dirt Bros Cheese was destined to be a much talked about classic. If you want to see some flat-out, hardcore BMX riding, check this one out now!
We’ve also posted a few of our favorite photos of Brad up on the site.
