Odyssey BMX – Summit Stem

April 26, 2018

Looking to really raise your bars up? Check out the new Summit Stem from Odyssey!

Odyssey BMX Summit Stem

The crew at Odyssey have just released their new Summit stem that’s bound to get some talk going since it pushes things up a notch or two higher than other BMX stems available. The Summit stem is made from CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum with a 48mm reach and a whopping 45mm of rise (other top load stems have a range of 27mm – 35mm rise usually) with a new proprietary clamping surface, 6 chromoly bolts to hold it tight, beveled edges, a recessed top for a flush fork cap and additional machining in low stress points for additional weight savings.

The Odyssey Summit stem comes in Black only, weighs in at 10.4 oz. and can be picked up through BMX shops and mail-orders, or direct from the Odyssey webstore for $64.99 now.

Here’s a few words direct from Odyssey about their newest stem…

“The Odyssey Summit stem is now the tallest stem offered.

Coming in with a 45mm rise, it is far above the rest. Using a proprietary clamping surface specification and clamping bolts with a larger surface area under the head, your bars will be sure to stay in place.” – Odyssey

St. Louis BMX Jam Held At Gun Point

April 26, 2018

Welp… It looks like that guy wasn’t too stoked on BMX.

The Capital Crew threw their annual street jam in St. Louis that drew in a bunch of riders for a full day of riding street spots, good times and a crazy old guy waving his gun at them. We’re not sure what made the guy so mad, and we could imagine whatever the situation was could have been handled better by both sides, but he definitely wasn’t doing himself or anyone any favors handling a gun the way he was. Either way, here’s a full recap of what went down on and off the bikes throughout the day. It looks like it was a success overall.

“Saturday, April 7th we hosted the second annual Capital-Lou-Jam in Downtown St. Louis, MO.
100+ bike riders traveled to St. Louis from all across the continent to partake in the annual ride & contests.
We rode bikes, got threatened by a crazy guy with a gun, raffled off a Custom BMX Bike, & so much more!

Mastering the Art of Flatland BMX with Alex Jumelin

April 26, 2018

It’s safe to say Alex Jumelin has this flatland thing mastered…

Here’s a rad one we spotted on Flat Matters featuring Alex Jumelin laying down a bunch of wild flatland combos for Coast Cycles! This was all filmed in one session at the same spot, making it pretty ridiculous he was able to knock all of this out in one go. Alex is a flatland master for sure.

Mutant Bikes – Bionic Cranks with the Spliner System Explained

April 25, 2018

Mutant Bikes put together a video showing you how their Bionic Cranks with the Spliner system works…

Thinking about getting a new set of BMX Cranks? Here’s a video showing you how the Bionic Cranks from Mutant Bikes works. These cranks use Mutant’s patented Spliner System that uses a split axle design that has a spacer with threads inside the bottom bracket. The system uses compression from a long bolt to pull both sides into the threaded spacer for a strong, tight fit that spins smoothly. This video shows how the cranks go together and how the Spiner System works. It’s a unique concept, but it looks real clean and strong.

“MFOBMX Company developed a new crank system, were the axle is divided in half and becomes an integral part of each arm, the tightening is made inside with just one 8mm allen bolt and a Spliner® Boss with 48 spline that also works as a spacer between the bearings. SPLINER® is a patented system, tested several times during years and approved. Thicker arms than regular cranks and shorter axle to prevent twisting, also the crank shape, was designed to don’t hit the ankles.
