How To Travel The World On A $10 A Day Budget – Robert Barranco

November 25, 2017

It turns out traveling around the world isn’t quite as expensive as it might seem… Here’s how Robert Barranco travels the world on a $10 a day budget!

BMX is pretty awesome… Not only is it a lot of fun, but it also presents a A LOT of opportunity that you might not see. Riding BMX is a great time and it’s great exercise, but it also gives you the perfect excuse to travel, meet new people and experience new things. If you follow Robert Barranco on Instagram, there’s a good chance you have looked at his posts and thought “man, I wish I could afford to do that”! Well, it turns out it’s not as expensive as it might seem, that is if you’re willing to make a few sacrifices and get out of your comfort zone. Above is a video Whistle Sports put together getting some insight from Robert about how he manages to travel all over the world while working with a $10 a day budget. Cheap flights, sleeping in a tent or a car, one meal a day and a whole lot of experiences and good times along the way. Obviously that $10 a day budget doesn’t account for plane tickets, trains, gas for the car and repairs needed, but those larger expenses can be limited a lot when it comes to traveling. If you can cut out the “extras” like a hotel room or extra food, you can easily extend your budget anywhere you go.

Obviously any trip requires some money, so Robert also talks about how he works at Adam LZ‘s warehouse for periods of time to save up money between trips and how he started a clothing brand that was spurred from these trips called FTE Collective that also helps him afford to travel like he does. Overall, this has some great insight into how to make traveling on a tight budget work, and he doesn’t sugar coat it to make it seem like it’s all sunshine and luxury… He shows you the downside of living on a budget like this in the video as well. That’s always cool to see what it took to get that photo or video.

So, if you are looking for the “right time” to go on a road trip or travel to a new country, this might just inspire you. Hit play and take this all in and maybe you can learn how to travel the world on a $10 a day budget!

““Do whatever you want, because one day, that’s all that’s going to matter.”

Robert Barranco is a diehard BMX enthusiast that travels the world and bikes at every park he comes across. Robert sleeps in a tent and lives off of one meal a day… but he takes nothing for granted.” – Whistle Sports

Red Bull – Build The Trick

November 24, 2017

If you build it, they will come… Or something like that. Check out what went down during the Red Bull Build The Trick contest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuqJEAtQrmo

Here’s one for all you guys that love riding DIY spots. Last summer Vasya Lukyanenko worked with Red Bull to come up with a unique video project that involved having two teams explore the Ukraine, riding street spots and building up unique DIY setups to film on. Here’s the end result that shows what both teams cooked up for riding footage during the trip!

“Full video of BMX project – “Red Bull Build The Trick”.

2 teams of professional bmx riders went through Ukraine for building spots and accomplishing tasks.

Riders:
Team 1:
Vasya Lukyanenko
Andriy Piskun
Anton Kozlovsky
Andriy Gaevskiy
Artem Bahchedzhi

Team 2:
Bruno Hoffmann
Anton Makarenko
Dima Zurabyants
Sokrat Maslov
Artem Prokopenko

Partners: Peugeot, Citroen, Panasonic, Gud.ua, Syndicate Originals, Bagazhnik.ua.” – Vasya Lukyanenko

“Travel to Ukraine in search of tricks
Known riders Bruno Hoffmann and Vasya Lukyanenko assembled teams and went on a journey
for new spots and impressions.
The largest BMX journey to Ukraine has been completed! From August 8 to 14, two rider teams
fought for victory in the Red Bull Build The Trick, traveling the country in search of locations for cool stunts, creating new spots. At the head of the teams were Red Bull athletes Bruno
Hoffmann from Germany and Ukrainian Vasya Lukyanenko, whose team celebrated the victory.

“I consider this project one of the most interesting and useful for the BMX-scene in the history
of the development of this discipline in Ukraine. We have invited our country to one of the best
street riders in the world. In addition, we gave the chance to other riders to spend a week with
him on a trip, and also built new spots on which local riders are already riding,” Vasya
Lukyanenko said.
The peculiarity of the contest is that the team of winners was determined by a set of tasks:
complex, medium complexity and entertainment. To earn points, riders visited Kiev, Dnipro and
Odessa, where they showed their skills not only at the found points, but also on those that they
had to create by themselves.

“I really liked the spot our team built in Kiev. It was a kicker on a tornado. Many guys did not dare to jump, but those who jumped on the wall looked pretty impressive.” – continued Vasya Lukyanenko.
Each team had five participants. In addition to Vasya and Bruno, eight other riders from
different cities of Ukraine went on a trip. Six of them received invitations from the organizers:
Socrates Maslov and Anton Kozlovsky were represented by Kyiv, Andriy Gaevsky – Kamenets-
Podilsky, Anton Makarenko – Kramatorsk, Dmitry Zurabjants – Dnipro, and Artem Bachechey –
Odessa.

Two more riders were selected through a competition in social networks, where everyone
could put their video with tricks and win the right to join the teams. They were Andriy Piskun
from Kyiv and Artem Prokopenko from the Dnipro River.
"It was a very difficult and interesting project. Many forces went to the construction of spots, relocations and the organization of the entire process. But we did it for ourselves and therefore were satisfied with the results, "Vasy Lukyanenko summed up the results.
Watch the video as it was!
