FloriDeah – Swimming Holes and BMX

March 3, 2017

Trey Jones and crew are back with another round of FloriDeah for your viewing pleasure. This one starts out with some time the crew spent on a rope swing at the swimming hole we’ve seen pop up in Scotty Cranmer‘s videos a few times, then the bikes come out for some street action. Check out what Trey, Jabe Jones, Dave McDermott, Ryan Herbach and Alex Lomelli got into!

“We went to a local swimming hole and then went and rode street later on that night. Overall, a totally kickass day! @treyjonesucks @jabejones @thefathersky @ryanherbach”

Mongoose En Costa Rica – Part 2

March 3, 2017

If you caught part one of Mongoose En Costa Rica and thought it was a little light on the riding, there is a reason! Part two is focused solely on the riding that went down during the trip and there was no shortage of clips! The intro to this video alone should get you stoked. Hit play to watch the guys go to work on a bunch of skateparks and street spots around the island! Excellent riding and solid film work. Can’t go wrong with this one!

“Mongoose en Costa Rica Part 2 is filled with top-notch riding from Kevin Peraza, Pat Casey, Ben Wallace, Tom Isted, Greg Illingworth and Paul Ryan. Watch as they hit concrete parks all over Costa Rica with some street clips sprinkled in. The trip is capped off with a demo at Kenneth Tencio’s park, 10Cio during its grand opening.”

Brant Moore – BMX Flip Book

March 3, 2017

Anyone who has ever been bored and had a note pad to work with has probably drawn a flipbook before. Brant Moore was going through an old drawer and came across one that he drew back in 2009 of a rider on some quarterpipes and a spine. He put together this quick video giving you a look at the drawing. Take a look since this is pretty cool, haha.

“A bmx flipbook I made in 2009.
He cased the last trick, thats how people did it in 2009! haha

Review: Wethepeople – “Foundation”

March 3, 2017

There’s been plenty of buzz going around about the new Wethepeople full-length video, “Foundation“, the past few weeks. Now that the video is officially available, we figured it would be a good time to do a quick little review for those of you on the fence or didn’t realize it was available yet!

The Wethepeople “Foundation” video is a look into the past year for the team. They started filming for this video in January of 2016 and spent the next 12 months bouncing around to 10 different countries, hitting up 20 cities in the process. To say the team was busy logging some heavy miles this past year would be an understatement.

The “Foundation” video features full sections from Ed Zunda, Dillon Lloyd, Mike Curley, Pete Sawyer, Max Gaertig, Felix Prangenberg, Moritz Nussbaumer, Dan Kruk, Jordan Godwin with footage from their flow and distributor riders from around the world mixed in for good measure. When you look at the line up, it’s easy to see that this video is STACKED full of guys that absolutely crush it out on the streets. With that being said, this is a 100% street video. You won’t find any trails or skatepark action in this one, so if that’s what you’re into… This video probably isn’t for you. This video is focused on the grinds and the streets.

The video was filmed and edited by Cal Earnshaw. We’ve been big fans of Callum’s work for a few years now and it seems like every time we see another project from him, we’re blown away with just how much more dialed and clean his work gets. With that being said, the “Foundation” video has some excellent film work. Everything is smooth as butter, there’s a good mix of close up and long lens shots and he didn’t over do it with second angles like we have seen in other videos in the past. We really liked that the transitions and any graphics in the video were clean and simple. Obviously that’s personal preference, but we’re all for the clean and simple route versus overly done graphics. The “Foundation” video just made us even bigger fans of Cal’s work.

The soundtrack selection for the video was unique as well. Sometimes you go into a video and every section is the same genre and feel. It works or some videos, but it can get boring quick. Luckily, this video mixes things up from start to finish with songs from Los Under Heavy, Action Bronson, Marley Marl, True Widow, Mogwai, Daddy Kev, The Charaltans, Cults and The Man.

The entire “Foundation” video runs for 35 minutes. In a world of super short clips or extended Vlogs that are 90% of random non-sense that kills time that you will not get back, we feel like this length was perfect for the project. There wasn’t much filler in the video, which means it’s a majority of dialed riding that will keep your attention from start to finish. Everything flows together really smooth, so it doesn’t feel like it’s 35 minutes long, either.

Would we recommend this video? If you’re looking for a dialed new street video, definitely! The video turned out damn good and we really enjoyed every aspect for the video from the riding to the spots, filming and editing, song selection and more. Plus, it’s super cheap in price. You can pick up the DIGITAL DOWNLOAD for $5 RIGHT HERE. We’re not sure if there will be actual DVD’s being made, but it would be rad to see that option… Does that make us Mid School?

What was our favorite section? That’s a super hard one. We’re a little biased toward Dan Kruk since we’ve been watching him since he was an unheard of young gun, his section was his first as a Pro rider. We’re big fans of Dillon Lloyd and Ed Zunda’s section, as well. But if we’re talking favorite section, gun to the head… Make the decision. We’d say Jordan Godwin definitely brought the heat.

That wraps it up! If you have already saw the video, let us know what you think about the video in the comments below!

Check Out Sandy Carson’s “We Were There” Photobook

March 3, 2017

It’s always awesome seeing what riders are getting into “after BMX” so to speak. Sandy Carson is still shooting photos, but has put a lot of his time and effort into the music world around Austin, Texas. Sandy has been super busy working on a new photobook and 7 inch Record from the Black Angels and The Sword and is doing a crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds to make it happen! The book features a ton of amazing photos that documents the crowds at hundreds of shows and festivals and it looks like it turned out awesome. If you’re into music, this is definitely one you will want to check out. To make things even better, there’s also a ton of perks from Fairdale, Vans and more! You can get the full scoop on the book, all the crazy perks for supporting the project and more RIGHT HERE!

“To support and pre-order book, go here- igg.me/at/WeWereThere

WE WERE THERE is a hardcover book dedicated to concert fandom, shot over a decade in Austin, Texas 2007-2017. This project explores the symbiotic relationship between rock concert fans, the bands, and myself, the photographer at music festivals. It is also a self-portrait of a music fan, musician, and photographer, who has been on both sides of the stage, barrier, and photo pit. Without the band there are no fans; without the fans, there is no band. One just cannot exist without the other!
Book comes with a 7-inch flexi disk vinyl featuring the Black Angels and The Sword. Coming fall 2017 on Daylight Books.

Feeble Talk – Chad Kerley

March 3, 2017

This is rad! Ride BMX are starting a new series called “Feeble Talk” where they sit down with Pros to talk about what they have going on. This first one features Chad Kerley where he talks about filming for “Real BMX”, his first edit from when he was completely unheard of and goes from there. This is almost an hour long, so you’ll have to have a bit of time to dedicate to this one, but it’s an interesting watch for sure! Zach Krejmas‘ mustache is looking amazing.

“Welcome to the premiere episode of our new talk show/podcast/studio interview weekly segment “Feeble Talk”.

To kick things off we brought in San Diego area legend Chad Kerley to ask him about his life past and present, talk about his influences, take some audience questions, and even give away some signature Haro product if you can answer Chad’s questions correctly..

Next week…. Christian Rigal!” – Ride BMX

Vans – “Illustrated” Jason Watts Section

March 3, 2017

If you aren’t already a huge fan of Jason Watts, then his section from the Vans “Illustrated” video should do the trick! Jason is an absolute shredder on everything you put in front of him, bringing a TON of style, creative and original tricks and more to everything he touches (We’re loving the number of X-Ups in this). This section is a super good indicator of that because he lays down some ridiculous tricks that you don’t see too many other riders doing! Plus, Jason knows how to go fast and big, which is always a good thing in a world of nibbler jibbler ledge edits. Hit play because this is an absolute MUST SEE!

We just can’t figure out how the hell he does those Nac-Nac Nose Manuals so well!

“Jason Watts brings new meaning to style with his first full-part for Vans BMX by riding everything from bowls to street to trails and drains – you’ve never seen some of these moves before. From San Diego to LA, Las Vegas and Australia – Jason’s style bleeds through on anything you put in front of him with only a bag of candy and soda to keep his fire burning.”
