Sneak Peek: Flybikes – 2016 Trueno Frame

October 16, 2015

TRUENO_insta_4

Today Fly Bikes dropped a sneak preview of the new 2016 Sergio Layos signature frame that’s due out at the end of this month. Based off the information, it sounds like they have kept most of the same geometry as last year except for a taller seat tube, switching the brake mounts to the seat stays and, the most surprising, switched from a Spanish bottom bracket to a MID bottom bracket. Check out more below!

“With our 2016 range of products getting ready to drop at the end of the month, we’re very excited to give you a full preview Sergio Layos’ signature Trueno frame! For this year Sergio wanted to bump his seat tube up to 8.8″, switch his brake mounts to seat stay and we have gone with a MID bottom bracket. The 2016 Trueno frame will come in colors of flat black, flat Forest green and flat blue and top tube lengths of 20.6″ and 21″.

This frame, along with our full range of 2016 complete bikes, frames and parts will be available through Flybikes dealers worldwide at the end of October.”

Paddy Gross Interview

October 16, 2015

paddy-burnside

It’s funny how BMX works. If you ride long enough, travel and go to a bunch of events, you’ll undoubtably meet a lot of people, and also end up meeting people you never expected to meet. The other weekend in the middle of Wisconsin during the Baco-A-Go-Go jam, I had the chance to meet one rider in particular that I’ve known of and watched ride since I was a kid, but never quite expected to meet. That rider is Paddy Gross. Paddy has been a front brake legend for years and continues to blow peoples minds to this day. After watching him ride in person and finding out a little more about him, I knew there was no way we couldn’t do an interview with him. So, today, were stoked to drop this interview where we find out a bunch of stuff about him that you probably had no idea. So, let’s get into this already!

Name: Liam Patrick Wyatt aka Paddy Gross

XSA Invitational 2015 – Street Highlights

October 16, 2015

To say things got nuts over in Russia for the XSA Invitational contest the other weekend would be an understatement. Things got nuttier than squirrel turds. Check out this highlight reel of banger after banger that went down during the street contest!

“Don’t let the media fool you, Russia is one of my personal favorite travel destinations in the world. So different, so passionate, and so, so wild. When myself, Pat Casey, Kevin Peraza, Larry Edgar, and Catfish were invited to Sochi, Russia, to be a part of the XSA Invitational this year, we jumped at the chance.

A dope event held during the Formula One race in “Sochifornia” along the black sea. With rollercoasters and 1000hp race cars flying near by, the best street riders in Russia went at it in a jam format, putting together some progressive riding that rivals anywhere else in the world. What separates these dudes from other countries is the passion and love. It’s hard to describe, but if you look closely at the end, you can see tears in the eyes of Artem and Alex…that’s what’s up.

Thank you to XSA Store and especially Alex Bivol (AKA, “when you die, you die”) for taking care of us and going out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Sincerely!

October 16, 2015

We have been big fans of Juanje Trujillo for quite some time now and he never stops amazing us with his progression and abilities despite working with one arm. Today we were treated to this really good documentary about Juanje where him, along with friends, family and guys like Ruben Alcantara tell his story. There’s a lot of great insight into Juanje along with some excellent riding footage. Highly suggest you watch this BMX video! This is a good reminder that there’s nothing that can keep you from accomplishing your goals.

“SamyRoad brings you “Raise the Bar”, a documentary about the BMX rider Juanje Trujillo, directed by Alberto Moya.
Juanje Trujillo’s inspirational story about living with a disability and refusing to let it be an obstacle when it comes to achieving your dream.
Alberto Moya, one of Spain’s most important representatives in the world of BMX and ranked 10th at the World Circuit in 2014, combines his sport with another passion: cinema. This time he has travelled to Málaga to pay tribute to Juanje Trujillo.

Jamie Cooper Ellis – Locked In At Rye Airfield

October 16, 2015

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a good “lights out” BMX video. Jamie Cooper-Ellis recently got some time after hours at Rye Airfield where he went to work stacking clip after clips for this new one. Jamie has a big bag of tricks and mixes things up throughout, making for a good watch from start to finish.

“Combining the creative riding of Jamie Cooper-Ellis and the creative film style of Ben Shumlin, Locked in at Rye is the spawn of an idea of what it would be like to live in a skatepark. This intensive project was filmed over three long nights at Rye Airfield. Thanks to Beau Lambert, Rye Airfield Staff, Dondo Cuerdon.

Nitro Circus – “Action Figures” Trailer

October 16, 2015

When we got the email saying Nitro Circus Action Figures out soon, we figured they would be having some actual action figures that would be at Wal-Mart or something. Turns out “Action Figures” is actually a full-length video basically showing you a ton of crazy shit these guys have been up to. Check the trailer and get stoked.

“Less than a month away! Action Figures will be available for digital download on October 20.

For a sneak peak, check out an edit from one of our very own Action Figures Gavin Godfrey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt80E…

About Action Figures:

Action Figures is the directorial debut of Travis Pastrana, Nitro Circus founder and 17-time X Game medalist, a film he wrote, directed, and produced alongside his best friends from the world of action sports and in association with Nitro Circus.

It is a first of a kind film by these modern day action heroes in which each athlete contributed to filming and editing their section of the film. Action Figures is an energy packed, high octane, wild ride of a film that is both an ode to the old school action sports videos and a bold step forward in filmmaking and extreme human performance. This is Travis Pastrana’s personal passion project in which he makes the dream stunts of his close friends become reality. It is one crazy ride with Travis at the wheel as his friends achieve multiple worlds’ firsts along the way.

These real life Action Figures will push their bodies and minds to conquer the impossible and ignite action sports entertainment.”
