Last night, for one reason or another, a few questions popped into my head that made me think that there are probably a lot of riders out there that just got into BMX might be curious about. What is 4130 chromoly, what is heat-treating and why does BMX use both on so many products? It’s one of those things that a lot of riders know about, but do they actually fully understand what these two things mean and why we utilize them in the industry. Product: Federal Bikes- Stance XL Rim

There’s no denying that BMX wheels have been getting bigger lately thanks to the larger 2.40″ tire size taking dominance with its benefits of increased traction and ability to take heavy impacts better. With the bigger tires, we have also seen a number of changes in BMX rims which have always been evolving to keep up with the crazier riding that is going on these days. To accommodate for those larger tires and demand for stronger rims, Federal Bikes have released their new Stance XL rim.

The Stance XL rim is made from 6066 aluminum which is 30% stronger than 6061 aluminum found on most rims and features a new contemporary design that utilizes a triple box section, a wide 40mm profile (Traditional rims are around 34mm) and lower 15mm sidewall (20mm is a common height on other rims) height. The wider design helps to maintain tire profile for larger tires and it makes the rim stonger and stiffer overall. Federal have also increased the thickness in the center of the rim by 22% too reduce spokes pulling through. Since the rim is wider, it makes it easier to lace and tighten spokes as well. The overall diameter of the rim is 394mm.

The Stance XL rim is available in matte black and polished silver with a weight of 18.5oz through BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Federal Bikes worldwide now.

Ben Wallace & Jared Eberwein Calling the Shots at Jurupa Skatepark

During the trip up to Woodward West that Ben Wallace and Jared Eberwein took for the Mongoose Jam, they made a pit stop at the Jurupa Skatepark where they coincidentally bumped into Dean Cueson who was also on his way up the jam. They all got in a quick round of Calling the Shots before heading back out on the road. Take a look!

Atlantis Vancouver – 2.5 Days in Victoria

BMX Modified Harley Davidson Motorcycles with Ben Wallace & Jared Eberwein

There’s no doubt that BMX and motorcycles have some strong ties and we’ve seen the two come together for different things a number of times. During a recent trip up to Woodward West for the Mongoose Jam, Ben Wallace and Jared Eberwein decided to take their Harley Davidson’s for a road trip. They both had some custom modifications to their bikes to make it so they could bring their bikes along for the ride. Take a look at both the bikes in this video!
