Rest In Peace, Glenn Salyers

July 18, 2015

It’s never easy waking up to the news that a rider has passed away. Today, we woke up to some hard news that Glenn Salyers is no longer with us. There is not a lot of information as to what happened, but from what we heard from a few sources is that he was in a motorcycle accident.

We here at The Union are completely crushed about the news and we are sending our deepest condolences to Glenn’s family and friends. Glenn was an incredibly talented BMX rider that we, and many, many others, are huge fans of. BMX definitely lost a good one today.

Rest in Peace, Glenn! BMX will never forget you.

UPDATE: There has been a memorial fund setup to help out Glenn’s family in this difficult time. You can get more information right here.

Odyssey – Matt Nordstrom 2015

July 17, 2015

Wow.. If you aren’t a Matt Nordstrom yet… You will be by the time you’re done watching this video that Odyssey released today! This video is banger after banger from start (well, after we get some time with Matt’s dog in) to finish! Absolute MUST SEE BMX video!

“I’ll say it, this is the best video I’ve ever made. Matt does tech tricks nobody’s doing, he does big shit, he flows soooo good, and he’s got a smile on his face the whole time. Seriously though, what more could you ask for? Matt put in a ton of work for this one, and I couldn’t be more stoked on how it turned out. Enjoy!” – Walter Pieringer

Sneak Peek: Fly Bikes – 2016 Neo Complete

July 17, 2015

flybikes-2016-neo-bike

Fly Bikes have been posting up sneak peeks of their 2016 line the past few weeks and today they gave us a look at their new 16″ Neo complete. With more an more kids getting into BMX at an earlier age, we’re all for seeing more brands putting out some dialed smaller bikes like this one. You can get a little more info below and see two close up photos of the brake setup using the Manual Springhanger brakes and the Trebol cassette hub!

“We’re very excited to give you the first look at one of our new additions to the 2016 line up for Flybikes. The Neo complete is a bike we designed to fit the younger riders out there just getting started in BMX. This 16″ bike has a frame, bars, fork, cranks and wheels that are scaled to fit the younger rider making it easy to learn how to ride a BMX bike and have control versus trying to ride a bigger 18″ or 20″ bike. We’ve loaded it with Flybikes and Trebol parts making for a really amazing bike.

We will be releasing full details on this bike closer to its release.

The 2016 Neo 16″ complete will be available later this year, along with our full range of 2016 complete bikes, frames and parts, through shops and mail-orders that carry Flybikes worldwide!”

Anthony Derosa – Low Profile

July 17, 2015

It’s pretty amazing how many completely under rated and amazing riders that you probably have never heard of. DIG caught up with Anthony Derosa for this new Low Profile giving you a look at how talented this guy really is. Watch as he sends some grinds on some huge set ups and unique spots. He’s definitely not scared to push things. Highly suggest you check out this BMX video!

““Anthony Derosa is 20, Goes to college full time half the year, and still finds time to ride and shred with all the homies while maintaining a high grade point average. For a young Bull, Dero really has his goals set up and knows what he wants to be doing. It’s a rare thing to see these days, someone who is talented, has a humble attitude about it all, and when it comes time to go Anthony is always ready to give it a 100%.” – Chris Marshall

“Garret Reynolds is from the same town I as I am, so it is a little challenging finding spots that haven’t been blown out; haha. With that being said, it does make it more fun trying to do new tricks on old spots. It’s motivating to me in a way. I’ve managed to pull off a few new ones for this edit!” – Anthony Derosa

Boqer123 – Nass 2015

July 17, 2015

Josh James and the Boqer123 crew made their annual trip out to the NASS festival over in the UK. They pulled out the camera and documented the whole trip from the drive to the live music, riding and more! Take it all in!

“We’ve been meaning to go to NASS festival and film for a few years now, and this year RideUK kindly hooked us up with some tickets and media passes, so we went along and filmed what we could. We had a bit of a nightmare weekend really due to a few reasons (motorway crash, mic we bought the day before didn’t record audio, and a few other things) but we still managed to have a sick time and film a bit showing what NASS is about every year. Enjoy”
