With the release of Alex Donnachie’s insanely good ALVX Promo video today, we figured it would be a good time to take a closer look at his signature frame from BSD that is finally out! This full 4130 chromoly frame features a steep 75.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.7″ bottom bracket height, 8.7″ standover height and a SHORT 12.5″ – 13″ chain stay length. The frame features gussets on the top and down tubes, a Mid bottom bracket, an integrated seat post clamp with the Horizontal Cut System, extra wide seat and chain stays with rounded bridges, ovalized seat stays at the bridges for extra clearance, welded on caps on the stays at the drop outs for more peg clearance, 5mm thick drop outs and NO brake mounts. The ALVX frame comes in top tube lengths of 20.3″, 20.6″, 20.8″ and 21″ with colors of translucent blue, clear coat raw and flat black and a weight of 5 lbs. even!

Rest In Peace, Dominic Trovato

It’s never easy waking up to news that a friend had passed away. This morning was definitely a rough one when we learned that Midwest BMX legend and all around good dude Dominic Trovato had passed. We don’t know the exact details as to what happened but it sounds like he went peacefully in his sleep.
Dominic was a huge driving force behind the Midwest scene in the early 2000’s with the Midwest BMX website that him and Jeff Klugiewicz ran. That site, and Dom, was a huge inspiration to me and a part of what got me so into doing websites (which is a part of why The Union is here today). Not only that, but Dom was one hell of a rider and one of the finest to come out of the Midwest. Although he didn’t ride as much these days, we always heard rumors that he would show up to a session and crush it like he had been riding every day. Dom had natural talent and was one amazing guy off the bike.
Everyone will miss him greatly and he will never be forgotten… Ride in Peace, Dom!

Product: Stolen Bikes – Thermalite Camouflage Pedals

There have been a bunch of parts coming out in camouflage lately and it’s definitely one of the more popular non-standard color options available at the moment. The guys at Stolen Bike Co. recently dropped their popular Thermalite pedals in this new camo colorway and they turned out real good. These pedals are made from Stolen’s Thermalite nylon based material with a unique concave, low profile design with molded pins and knurling across the pedal for plenty of traction and a recessed end to help protect the bearing cover when the bike falls as well. Inside you can find a chromoly spindle with a 6mm allen key hole and 15mm wrench flats and unsealed bearings. The camouflage Thermalite pedals are available now along with color options of black, Dark blue, Gang green, Neon orange, purple, red and white with a weight of 13.8 oz.

Ray’s Bike Park Milwaukee – Rookie of the Year 2015 Video

The 2nd annual Rookie of the Year contest went down at Ray’s Bike Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 31st where riders from all over the Midwest from the beginners up through the expert, pro and Masters (40+) all came together for a day filled with good times and plenty of riding!
