“Simone Barraco’s 8mm edit with Hadrien Picard has been received with great acclaim since its release last week. The clip, with its 1970s-style retro feel, was filmed on an Super 8 film camera.
The shoot presented Hadrien with many a challenge. Filming the edit with a 40-year-old analogue camera and one roll of 8mm film meant that he had to shoot the clip in a very specific way that put pressure on both the filmmaker and rider during filming.
Hadrien had to film all the scenes in the right order and Simone had to pull off any tricks on the first try because the film could not be cut or edited in case of errors, like it can be with a modern digital camera.
Hadrien actually filmed the project twice, with two Super8 Braun Nizo 801s. Both films were then developed and the more fluent and cleaner film was chosen as the final edit.”
