There has been a lot of talk about tires lately. I don’t know what has lead to it, but it has, for the most part, been a good thing. Over the years, tires have changed quite a bit thanks to trends, riding styles and the use of different materials that stepped away from the traditional tires we saw for years. After 4 years, The Shadow Conspiracy decided it was time to take their popular Undertaker tire to the drawing board and give it a modern revamp. Chad Bautista Benefit Jam & Fundraiser

It always sucks hearing about a rider that got hurt and is getting screwed around with trying to get the medical help they need. Chad Bautista recently broke his tibia, fibular and ankle and is being denied the surgery he needs because he can’t come up with $75,000 they need for the surgery. There’s a jam and a Go Fund Me setup to help them reach their goal! If you have a few bucks to spare, help this dude out!

“Chad Bautista injured himself doing what he loves, bike riding. Since an early age he was always on his bike; at the age of three he took off his own training wheels and his family caught him riding around the backyardÂ by himself. Anyone that knows Chad can see how much he was meant forÂ bmx and his true love and passion for it.

He broke his tibia and fibula and shattered his ankle. He has had one surgery so far and will need reconstructive surgery that will be to the sum of $75,000.00 due to the need of a specialist at Stanford Hospital.

He has been denied medical assistance because the surgery is too expensive. He has also be denied a payment plan and if he does not get his surgery he could be without use of that foot and unable to do the sport he loves again.

Please help us get Chad’s medical bills paid so that he can be on the mend and recover.

The Markit Summer BMX Camp

What are you doing this summer? Maybe you should plan to make it to the Markit BMX Camp that’s going on August 9th – 16th up at the Quetico College School! More info can be found below. Sounds like a good time to me.

“THE DETAILS OF THE CAMP:

-the camp takes place at Quetico College School for 1 week, Aug 9 to 16 2014

-Dennis and the Markit Team will be at the school to session with riders during this week

-all riders are welcome, from those just getting started to Pro riders

-Quetico College School has a large freestyle BMX park and dirt jumping area.

-transportation from local airports is provided at the start and end of the camp. For Thunder Bay, Porter (flyporter.com) provides flights from Toronto, Air Canada and Westjet through Toronto and Winnipeg. For International Falls, Delta provides flights through Minneapolis.

-the cost for the week is $900 per person. This amount includes accommodations in a private room with bath and shower, all meals in our dining hall and all activities.

-there is space for 30 riders for this camp.

-riding sessions will take place daily at the freestyle park.

-on Friday August 15 there will be a competition on the site for all those attending the camp

-in addition to the BMX programme, there will be times for canoeing, wakeskating and water skiing, tennis, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, and soccer/field sports. There will be opportunities to learn techniques for ramp building.

-evening campfires on the lakeshore and BMX video viewings in the theatre are available daily.

-the school is owned and operated by Michael Heaton and his staff. Medical personnel are available to assist at all times with all activities at the camp.
