“Last summer we had the Eastern Pro Team come out to shoot photos for the 2011 Eastern Bikes catalog. A few of the Am, Vet and Test team were also on hand to take part in the action. I filmed the weekend events but much to my dismay, I misplaced the SD card that I shot everything on. Just a few weeks ago it resurfaced and here is the video. Enjoy.” – Eastern

Today, The Hunt was announced. What the hell is The Hunt? Well, it’s a new project from the mind of Justin Kosman with the help of Odyssey, Vans and Monster to motivate some of the best filmers in the world to produce one hell of a video.
The site dropped today with an almost secretive approach to what’s going on. The Mission statement on the site is the only real clue as to what’s going on. The only thing I can think of in the past that is similar to this, is the old Aspire video contests, and even then the money and invite wasn’t there. Check out the mission statement from the site..
“The Hunt is the new arena for independent BMX productions. With nearly $10,000 in cash and prizes, it’s a project that our sponsors believe in. We also believe that all riders should have a say in who wins – that’s why after the field is narrowed down to twenty semi-finalists, the fate of the DVD will be left in the hands of the people. Not all videos should die a quick death on the internet, that’s why releasing the top ten video parts on a limited edition DVD. The contest is open to an invited number of filmers and riders from around the world. If you feel like you have a shot at this and haven’t been invited, please e-mail a link to a sample vid or the idea for your video part to hello@thehuntbmx.com. Otherwise, you’ll be hearing from us.”
The $10,000 prize break down can be found by hitting this LINK. There’s a long list of filmers that popped up as to who could have been invited, but I really couldn’t say who is for sure in or out. There’s also probably going to be 500 people submitting to get involved.

A few weeks back it was announced that the Etnies skatepark in Lake Forest would no longer allow pegs in their park. Now you might assume Etnies is behind this, but in reality they just sponsor the park, and the park is ran by the city. Check out a few words from Etnies and then find out how to sign the petition…
“etnies was shocked and disappointed to discover that the City of Lake Forest banned BMX pegs from their public skatepark. In fact, we heard nothing of this proposed ban until AFTER it happened and it should be noted that the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest, although it bears our name, is managed and run by the City of Lake Forest, not by etnies or any etnies personnel. ”

“Every year BSD holds a jam at Unit 23 skatepark, 2010 was different, this didn’t happen. There was a very good reason for this. With the help of Nike 6.0, a team of dedicated workers and a lot of blood, sweat and sleepless nights, Hall 2 at Unit 23 underwent an amazing transformation. Dave Sowerby created a new design and over a period of about two months, the old park was ripped out and rebuilt. The result being a rider’s paradise.
Given the promise of such a park, BSD felt it was only right to postpone the jam until the new set-up was ready.
Thanks to Nike 6.0 and Unit 23 skatepark without whom this jam would not have been possible.
