When it comes to cops and BMX, it’s not all too often that the two groups see eye to eye on things. Not to say there aren’t times when cops end up being real cool about things, but this isn’t exactly one of those cases. Sean Fontenot posted up this video where he has a confrontation with a cop who was telling him where they were trying to ride their bikes was against the law. It turns out that Sean happens to know the laws specifically for that area (to the the point where he can cite exact codes) and decides to inform this particular officer that he was wrong.
There’s different ways to confront a situation like this, and most usually don’t end so well since 9 times out of 10, you don’t have enough to prove the cop(s) wrong. This is proof that it’s important to know your rights and the laws and have the ability to present that properly versus just making things up, swearing and causing a scene that will cause things to head south real fast.
“Lieutenant Cobel, officer of the long beach police department in california tries to assert his authority in the wrong place in the wrong way.
He handled it pretty well, and definitely better than most cops that have had the unfortunate situation of trying to step on my rights. You got to love the “Did you get your law degree on facebook?” bullshit line that ALL cops try to pull on you.
As IF its wrong to know your rights. This kind of attitude should be eliminated from the police department and you have to call them out on their bullshit like it is.”
