Karl Hinkley “Aspire Round 2” Video

October 26, 2017

Here’s a proper Throwback Thursday for you! Karl Hinkey’s “Aspire Round 2” section just surfaced online…

Anyone who has been riding BMX for around 15 years knows about the old Aspire video contests. Riders from all over would submit video parts and the best ones would be picked for the full-length video (Pretty sure it was only on VHS at this time) that came from it. Karl Hinkley ended up with his section he submitted that hasn’t been online, so he uploaded it and it’s a serious throwback that is so awesome to watch. Not only is this packed with a ton of riding we just don’t see anymore, it leaves you guessing what’s coming next from start to finish. We’re pretty sure Karl still does a bunch of these tricks in this video, too! That’s not a bad thing! Enjoy!

“Here’s my edit I submitted for the round 2 Aspire video contact in 2004. Had a blast filming it and a big shout out to Jim Reinstra for finding the old DV mini tape over 15 years later and mailing it to me so I could watch it again.” – Karl Hinkley

Brian Kachinsky Aspire Section

January 25, 2013

Wow… I can’t believe this video part is almost 10 years old already. This is Brian’s winning part from the old Aspire video contests that Jim Rienstra used to run back in the day. Brian’s part which consists of footage from the streets of Madison, Wisconsin and some of the legendary Midwest skateparks that are no longer around like Undercover, 4Seasons Madison and Area 51. This was definitely one of the parts that really put Brian on the map, even though at the time of this he was already riding for UGP and Standard. Wow… I know entirely too much about this part and I’m rambling. All you need to know is that this is some classic Brian Kachinsky footage and it’s good as hell. Enjoy!

“Section took 1st place in the Aspire video contest, circa 2004.” – Props
