Crux Division Now Supporting Videographer Jacob Hope

January 9, 2013

Jacob_Hope_one foot xup

I’ve always wondered if there would ever be a day where a filmer would get sponsored. I know there’s guys who have obviously landed jobs as being a team filmer, I mean look at Will Stroud, Chris Long and Mike Mastroni… But I’ve never heard of somebody being a sponsored filmer. The Crux Division have added Jacob Hope to their line up strictly for being a filmer. If you have seen any of his TX Life edits, you would know he’s been putting in a ton of work lately and this opportunity will definitely help him progress even more. Check out the full press release below. Stoked for you, Jacob.

“Since day one of starting Crux Division everything I envisioned for it was on a very minimal scale, I had no expectations of it being as popular as it is now especially in the short year Crux has been around. This natural progression is very exciting and motivating to explore what more we could possibly do which has brought us here. In this very serious and formal announcement please welcome our first videographer selectee Jacob Hope.

Since first meeting Jacob he had made it pretty evident that his main focus is filming and editing. Like a young eager BMX’er striving to ride like Garrett Reynolds, that same mentality applies to Jacob but he’s looking at guys like Navazio and Ennis for inspiration. Jacob wants to create good videos and is always finding ways to better himself. Hopefully we can help him refine his skills, discover new ones, and gain experience in creating a solid work ethic that will benefit him later down the road.

Jacob lives pretty close to a few of the riders and will be hooking up with them to film. Most riders will utilize Jacob by sending in footage for him to edit which will hopefully bring everyone a little closer and help with the family feel of Crux Division.

Check out Jacob’s Vimeo Page (Vimeo.com/BMXhope) to see the awesome work he has done with his scene and look below of his latest edit of the Sidewall Distro warehouse party from recent that features Crux riders Adam Lee, Matt Hildebrand and Daniel Reyes.

Excited to see some projects surface from this in the near future.“

One Minute with Tim Storey

January 9, 2013

This edit might not be a full minute, but with load time, I’ll allow it. Alex Hiam caught up with Tim Storey at their local park in Cleveland, Australia to film a few clips. They ended up with a couple good ones for you guys to take a peek at. Check it!

Erik Orgo – Indoor Bangers

January 9, 2013

Like a lot of us, the weather has kept Erik Orgo indoors. Check out this edit featuring a bunch of clips he stacked from the sessions he has been getting in lately. There’s a bunch of real good riding in this and the filming and editing is on point.

“As soon as the weather turned sour after summer – Rain, cold and then snow, we started going to our indoor facilities. It’s nothing much, but we use them to the fullest.
We had an idea to make a banger video with Eki to showcase the riding, which is going every day pretty much. Like no joke, this is how Eki rides pretty much every single session. There is always something new and something big or tech or stylish thrown down. Not only Eki is good at street, but he has some tricks up his sleeves when it comes to park. Of course street is where we most enjoy to hang around and film, but when you can’t ride street, we chill with our friends, film and have good times in our small indoors.
Should we make a dirt edit next time around? What do you all think?

Hope you will enjoy this and we might make something else as well.

Through The Lens: Shooting an Ad

January 9, 2013

Stolen BMX - BMX Bikes

If you are anything like I was growing up as an aspiring photographer, then you might be curious as to how the ads come about in all of the magazines. Sure, it’s obvious that someone shoots a photo and then it shows up in the mags but there is clearly a lot more to it then that. How does the photographer get picked? How much does the photographer get paid? Does the rider get paid? How does a company decide on which team rider gets the ad? Which magazine will it go in? If I remember correctly I got lucky and the first legit ad that I got in a magazine was an old Haro ad of a rider from Ohio by the name of Dustin Bauer. I used to live/ride with him in Upstate New York and he ended up getting on Haro during that time. One thing led to another and the next thing I know I had a two-page spread ad for Haro in Ride and I honestly couldn’t have been more stoked about it. Fast-forward to now and the newest ad that I shot happened to be for Stolen and features the rail wizard Chris Brown. Anyone that knows Chris knows that he has a true do-or-die mentality and will double tire, feeble and manual round rails all day. Read on to find out how the ad came about from start to finish and learn what happens when you push your luck.

I’ve been patiently waiting for this one. Rob DiQuattro bringing some serious fire for this MUST SEE welcome to Mankind edit! Check it!

“Mankind proudly welcomes Rob DiQuattro (from the infamous HOOD ANTICS) to the US team! Rob spent the past few months traveling with friends, slaying rails and filming for this welcome edit. Filmed by the homies in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Wisconsin, Colorado, Oregon and Texas. Mankind teammate, Jeff Klugiewicz, commented ‘I have always been a Rob D. fan… He’ll be putting his pegs on anything in front of him, and I’m looking forward to riding with him more this year. I know traveling and filming with him on Mankind trips will be a blast!’” – Mankind
