Through The Lens – Spots

December 5, 2012

Riding spots are literally everywhere if you happen to know what it is that you are looking for. To the average person, a set of stairs with a handrail is just that; but to a rider it’s an entirely different story. I think that once it’s in your blood you will never be able to look at a city in the same way again. If you have the eye for it and know what makes a spot a good spot that will never change. Riders spend days, weeks, months and years looking for spots. Some riders like rails, some like stairs, some like gaps, some like technical set ups, some like ledges, and some like whatever it is you put in front of them. As a photographer it is my responsibility to have a solid directory of spots ready to go for any riders that are down to shoot. Over the years I have spent countless hours on the hunt, always visualizing how certain tricks will look on certain set-ups. When a rider comes to town, I always need to be ready to cater to their specific style and bring them to spots that I know they will be pumped on. Basically I wanted to take some time and talk about all things spot related. If I have your interest by now, keep on reading and enjoy this weeks TTL.

Eduards Zunda on Odyssey

December 5, 2012

I still remember the first time I saw some footage of Eduards Zunda a few years ago. I just said “this dude is going to be big”. Over the years, he hasn’t disappointed one bit either. I’m stoked to announce that he’s now doing it for Odyssey. I’d imagine that this should mean we will be seeing a whole lot more of Ed in 2013. Get stoked because I have a feeling he’s just getting started on blowing peoples minds. Hell yeah, Ed!

“When we first became involved with the Hunt, we had always known that we would get to see some great talent. Ed stood out to us as soon as we got our sneak previews from this years Hunt. His smooth, effortless style made it clear that he would be a great fit to the Odyssey squad. Ed is in Hawaii right now enjoying his first prize trip. We can’t wait to get working on some awesome projects with this guy!”

Check out a few more photos of his new setup right here.

Product: Fly Bikes – 2013 Complete Bike Line

December 5, 2012

Fly Bikes had some dialed complete bikes last year, and it looks like they’ve stepped up their game even more for 2013. Above and below you can find three videos giving you closer look at the the Electron, Proton and Neutron completes. These bikes look so amazing. You can find more information about each of these bike by Clicking Here.

“After the success of the 2012’s, we’ve worked extremely hard and improved the entire complete bike line top to bottom. All bikes come loaded with Flybikes own Trebol parts pack including double wall rims, featuring a similar construction to the proven Piramide rim. The new bulletproof 4mm thick 4130 Chromoly sprocket featuring the same design as our aluminum Pentagono sprocket. With the direction of modern day BMX riding and an almost entire team of brakeless riders, we’re offering the Neutron and Proton models with removable brake mounts for that cleaner and modern day look. (These bikes do include a non-assembled U-brake, cable and brake lever for countries where customs may require them). The Electron model comes equipped with an aftermarket Flybikes Manual brake and lever installed for an incomparable brake set up. Another great feature for 2013 Proton line is the new larger Dos 20 seat.

While still being a great option for the smaller rider, we’ve increased the Electron size slightly from 19.6″ to 20.2″. And finally, after lots of great feedback we’re now offering both RHD (Right hand drive) and LHD (Left hand drive) options of each model bike so you can choose depending on which side you grind. For convenience, the cranks have sprocket bosses on both arms so you can change the sprocket side.”

2012 Transgression Skatepark Snowballin’ Jam

December 5, 2012

This past weekend was the annual Snowballin’ Jam at Transgression skatepark. As expected, the turn out was awesome and some damn good riding went down. Check out two videos from the day giving you a look at just what went down.

“Saturday 1st of December saw the return of our annual Snowballin Jam.
This time with a whole host of the country’s best BMX riders. With some serious prize up for grabs, not only did the Pro’s throw down, but the under 16’s showed everyone what the future holds – doing tricks that not many years ago would have won the pro category.
A massive thanks to all our sponsors: Haro, Premium, Social, Bell helmets, Alibico and TP
Without you guys none of it would have been possible.
A massive thanks to all the riders for really putting on a show, and a very massive thanks to everyone who showed up and our loyal customers who keep coming back to help show their appreciation for events such as this.
See you in 2013!
Songs:
This Mess – Wolf Cub
