This month I hit the two-year mark as a freelance photographer after almost five years straight of working for a magazine full-time, as a salaried photographer/assistant editor and it’s been one hell of a ride so far. I seem to always have this discussion with people and it’s interesting to hear everyone’s varying opinions on the subject of freelance vs. the daily grind. This very column is one of the best parts of working for myself and has been since TTL number one. Now for those of you out there working a 9-5 I have nothing against that lifestyle. If it’s paying the bills and helping you maintain your current situation then I say go for it. There is something about creating that I am addicted to. Whether it’s shooting a photograph, or writing a 4,000-word story I seem to have the need to constantly be working and moving forward. I decided to take a little bit of time and reflect on the differences between the two, and the ups and downs of both since I feel at this point I have seen from both perspectives.
Take a look at this brand new video featuring Demolition‘s Australian connect, Shane Conlon, putting in some work on a bunch of different parks and a few street spots. Definitely stoked on this one. Check it!
“Conno produced the goods from spots from all over QLD and NSW. Shane is one of my funniest mates, and it was mad fun filming for this video.

If you were looking to get your hands on one of Sunday‘s 24″ Model C complete bikes, you’re in luck! They just got a fresh shipment in at Full Factory, so tell your local shop to get you one ordered up today!
The winter in Minnesota might be cold and shitty, but dammit, our summers are nice! Check out this 9 minute mix edit that Mike Gelle pieced together featuring the likes of Erik Elstran, Nick Anderson, Jake Demuth, Justin Dewitt, Seth Peterson, Mini Mark and many, many more having a good time on their bikes at a ton of street spots and a few different parks! Damn I miss summer bad now.
Take a peek at some leftover bonus footage that Hadrien Picard had from the trip to Cuba that him and Simone Barraco took for Nokia Pureviews! After you watch that, re-watch or watch the full edit RIGHT HERE.
Now THIS is what I’m stoked about. Dustin Grice and AJ Anaya loaded up a ton of BMX’s young guns in Ryan Guettler’s RV and took them on a little tour around California this past weekend. Each of these guys might be 14 and under, but they know plenty about ripping it up on a bike already! BMX’s future is looking really good, that’s for sure! Check out part one from the trip where they made a stop at the Stay Strong compound to ride!
“THEY’RE COMING AFTER YOU. Bringing the youngest talent together in BMX. HUGE THX PARENTS, sponsors, pros, parks, media.. Next gen is about to DESTROY. Filming & Editing by Ryan Guettler.“
Here’s some awesome news. Justin Care is now doing it for Colony here in the U.S! This dude has been on it for a while now, so it’s awesome to see him get this kind of support finally,
“Pottstown, Pennsylvania resident Justin Care is the newest addition to the family over in the USA. Justin has been doing good things for a few years now with his parts sponsor Merritt and we wanted to help him out with a few things aswell to keep his bike rolling nice and smooth.
I can’t wait to work with Justin on some more projects in the future so been on the lookout for things to come from this kid. His team page will be up very soon. Thanks to @ryanscottphoto for the photo.” – Colony
