Product: Cult – Glow in the Dark Grips

August 28, 2015

cult-glow-in-the-dark-bmx-grips-2

Cult have just released their Dak, Faith and Cult X Vans grips in this new Glow in the Dark colorway. The grips are made by ODI here in America and are currently hitting BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Cult worldwide now. See the before and after below! That’s one way to be seen at night, that’s for sure!

How do they make glow in the dark rubber? Well, here’s a little science for you. They add phosphor to the rubber compound. Phosphor absorbs light and energizes the material. Once it has been energized, it glows green until the energy has faded off. Not sure how long these grips stay green for, but either way. Pretty interesting.

The Art of the BMX Grip

August 5, 2015

odi-longneck

In BMX, there are literally hundreds of options of pretty much any part that you might be looking for. For some people, weight, color, size or just the overall look are the biggest deciding factors for them. One product in particular that comes to mind when thinking about countless options are BMX grips. You would think something as simple as a piece of rubber on your bars to keep your hands in place would be pretty simple and straight forward, but it’s far from that. From length to diameter, pattern, rubber durometer, flange or flangeless and color, the combinations and possibilities are pretty much endless. We were thinking it would be rad to go through a handful of brands and pull out either their most popular, newest or most unique grip and put them all together to really see the differences that there are. Check out all of the grips below, then let us know if we missed any good ones that should be added to the list in the comments! Ready? Let’s do this!

Sneak Peek: Fly Bikes – Mat Roe Signature “Roey” Grip

June 26, 2015

Fly Bikes just released a sneak peek look at Matt Roe‘s new “Roey” signature grip that will be available later this year. This grip has a similar look as the A’me Tri grip that was super popular in the ’80’s and is still available today, but with a few more modern touches. Looks good to us!

“This week are excited to give you guys a few sneak peek photos of the new Mat Roe signature Roey grip that will be available later this year. We were working with Mat on grip designs and we started talking about the A´me Tri grip and how much we loved that design. In the end, we decided to do a more modern version of the grip with a few slight changes as a bit of a tribute to one of the great grip designs.

The A´me Tri grip is still available for those of you looking for the original, but we will be offering our version in black, Military green, orange and one other special colorway that we will be announcing closer to the release of our 2016 line later this year.”

Check out two more close up shots after the jump!
