During a trip to New York City for the GT Bicycles 2017 BMX product launch, we caught up with GT Bicycle’s pro team rider Brian Kachinsky to take a closer look at his signature Globetrotter setup that he’s running loaded up with parts from Primo and Odyssey! This originally appeared as a Facebook Live video, so that’s why the quality is a little rough around the edges.

“Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, and the first name in BMX, announces the industry’s most anticipated video of 2016, ILLUSTRATED. ILLUSTRATED marks another astounding milestone for Vans, marking the brand’s first-ever, feature length global BMX video since the company’s inception in 1966. Directed by respected BMX photographer Justin Kosman, and featuring groundbreaking full parts from some of the biggest names in BMX, ILLUSTRATED gets up-close and personal with the multifaceted Vans pro BMX team as they circle the globe in search of never-before-ridden terrain.
ILLUSTRATED is about paving your own path; a unique ride through life, both on and off the bike. With style, precision and drama at every turn, each rider demonstrates their own chosen direction as they journey across the globe establishing their craft as creators of one truly original art form. In the end, we are graced with a showcase of cinematic adventures, written in scratches and skid marks on walls and rails around the world. This is their piece, their extension and their illustrated reality – this is ILLUSTRATED.
On June 2, Vans will present the world premiere of ILLUSTRATED at the iconic Austin venue, The Mohawk, during the 2016 X-Games. Chronicling another first in Vans’ history, the Austin red carpet premiere will be webcast live on RideBMX.com. Hosted by BMX personality Steve Crandall, the global webcast will feature live interviews with the Vans BMX team, exclusive unreleased bonus content, and the first official screening of the video in full form. The Austin event will cap off with live performances by heavy metal band Sword, alongside a DJ set by Vans skate legend John Cardiel. Following the premiere, ILLUSTRATED will make its international debut across the globe with stops in Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada and Mexico.

BMX riders adopted Vans in the late ‘60s because of their reliable construction and rugged waffle outsole. The “Off The Wall” philosophy of BMX led to Vans signing on the first officially sponsored BMX athletes in history, Bob Haro and Greg Hill. Decades later, Vans’ checkerboard flag continues to be a global mainstay in BMX and the first in the sport and as the leader in BMX footwear and apparel.”

Sneak Peek: GT Bicycles – Brian Kachinsky Signature Seat

If you haven’t noticed that GT Bicycles have been working on a TON of new products since Ben Ward took over the BMX program last year, then you’re blowing it. They have been keeping things pretty quiet, but we’ve seen a few things pop up here and there. For example, we just spotted this sneak preview of the Brian Kachinsky signature Pivotal seat that’s in the works. Do you know what that design is? That’s the map of the train lines that run through Chicago embossed into the seat. Pretty rad idea. Expect to see more sooner than later.
Brian Kachinsky “A Road Less Traveled”
Here’s a slightly different video than your traditional BMX video we see on a daily basis. Follow Brian Kachinsky as he takes the road to Woodward Camp and sends it on this bike that he “discovers”, stacking clips along the way. Take a look and see just what it’s all about. Good riding regardless of the story line.
GT Bicycles – “Bleeding Kansas”
A little while back, the GT Bicycles crew consisting of Rob Wise, Brian Kachinsky, Jeremiah Smith, and Jason Phelan made a trip to Kansas City, Missouri of all places to see just what the city had to offer for spots. Based off this banger of a BMX video, it’s clear these guys had no problems finding shit to ride! Take a look!
“GT’s Rob Wise, Brian Kachinsky, Jeremiah Smith, and Jason Phelan wage a war on the streets of Kansas City, MO. People have been sleeping on KC all this time but I have a feeling that’s about to change. From the craziest damn spot you’ve ever seen, to a plethora of rail set-ups beyond your wildest dreams, KC is stacked. The squad of Rob Wise, Brian Kachinsky, Jason Phelan, and Jeremiah Smith spent ten days dodging rain and putting themselves through hell… The result? A collection of clips that will surely be talked about and even stand the test of time. This is “Bleeding Kansas” GT in KC. Get your hands on a copy RideBMX Magazine issue 210 for the inside story and all of the pictorial goodness.” – Ride BMX

“Lacey is one straight-forward, funny mother fucker. So, when I strapped to a mic to him at the beginning of the Chicago stop of The Street Series, I knew this would end up being a long edit. From dealing with security, whispering sweet nothings in my ear, and talking a bit of shit, Lacey pretty much had commentary for everything. Besides a couple of missed clips at the last spot (I had to go get something to drink), I think this video does a pretty proper job of showing all the good times that were had in Chicago. Thanks to Monster for organizing this, Kachinsky for doing the ground work, Lacey for being a part of this, and all the locals for coming out and making #bmxday a huge success.
Rest in peace, Glenn Salyers…
