Red Bull caught up with Ruben Alcantara to find out more about his skatepark he designed and built in Malaga, Spain. This video is part 2 of the series and features Ruben getting a little riding time in while talking about how the park came to be the way it is. Expect part 3 soon where he really tears the park to pieces with style.
“Ruben Alcantara has spent his career traveling the globe riding the planet’s best skateparks. When the opportunity to be involved with the design process for a new park in his local town of Malaga, Spain arised he jumped at the chance.
Typically with Ruben however, he didn’t want just any old park and set about drawing influences from one of his other big loves, surfing.
Stay tuned for the full action edit dropping right here on Wednesday 29th January.”

Here’s some awesome news. It turns out this summers X-Games in Austin, Texas will feature A LOT of BMX… Big Air, Park, Street, Vert and… wait for it… DIRT. Check out the press release below, then Click HERE to see the full line up of events! I actually want to go to this now.
“ESPN will present the inaugural X Games Austin June 5-8, 2014, at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. This year’s event will host more than 200 athletes at COTA and in downtown Austin. Action sports fans visiting COTA will enjoy many staple X Games disciplines at two different locations along the track’s 3.4 miles, including the newly added discipline of Stadium SUPER Trucks and the homecoming of BMX Dirt to U.S. soil after making its return last year at X Games Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil.
Building on last year’s debut of the X Games Music Presents series, X Games Austin will also showcase a world-class music lineup to complement the world’s premier action sports competition, including internationally acclaimed and Grammy Award-winning artist Kanye West, Flaming Lips and Pretty Lights.
Utilizing the large footprint of the COTA venue, the X Games on-site experience will grow significantly in 2014, bringing fans a full festival atmosphere surrounding the sports competition, complete with live music, athlete autograph sessions, pit access, Austin’s world-renowned food and drinks, interactive villages for fans of all ages and more – all included with the purchase of a ticket.
“X Games Austin 2014, will be a four day sports, music and lifestyle festival,” said Scott Guglielmino, sr. vice president, programming and X Games, ESPN. “The best athletes, competing at the highest levels remain the core of X Games. But we’re incredibly excited about being able to create a full-scale festival around that, which celebrates some of the other elements of the X Games lifestyle – music, friends, family, food and fun.”
“We look forward to hosting the X Games this June and introducing tens of thousands of brand new customers to the world-class venues we have at Circuit of The Americas,” said Paul Thornton, president of TAG Presents LLC, the events Management company for COTA and the Austin360 Amphitheater. “Austin is an ideal location for this international event as this city represents the bold and independent mindset embodied by the X Games. We’re ready to give action sports fans a Texas-sized festival experience with sports, music, rides and activities above and beyond what has ever been attempted before.””
It’s always a good day when Andy Maguire sends through a new video! This time around he had enough footage of himself compiled to make one real good edit from a ton of different spots he came across. Hit that play button because it’s well worth a watch!
“After hearing this song a million times at work, it stuck with me enough that I thought I could make an edit to it. While compiling the footage, there was about two clips per spot. Once I noticed that, it became the theme of the edit and getting two clips per spot was the m.o. So I guess I did think twice, but hopefully not in a bad way!
Song: “Don’t Think Twice” – Waylon Jennings
Filmed by: Greg Micklas, Reed, Jay Gallher, Murph, and Sean McLean.
Thanks to Lil Mikey Beeswax, Pacific Ave Cycles, and all the homies I get to ride with!“
Check out Thomas Calcagno getting some time in at his local park for this fresh new video. Thomas brings a ton of real solid moves to the mix making for a good watch! Check it out!

Head over to Flat Matters for a new Repo from the One Love Jam! There’s a ton of rad photos and videos go with a write up about the whole day. Sounds like it was a real good time!

There’s a good chance by now you have heard of 3D printing. If you’re like me, you probably are pretty confused as to what it is and how it all works. It turns out that G-Sport‘s George French has built himself his own 3D printer and has been using it to create prototype samples of parts he is working on to see what it looks like in comparison to just a CAD drawing on a computer. This sounds like it could very well be the future of BMX product development, so head over to Ride UK for an interview with George where he explains what 3D printing is and how it can be applied to BMX.
It looks like Australia’s own, Will Gunn, is now doing it for Demolition. Anyone who has seen footage of Will in the past knows this guy is an absolute shredder and this one is well deserved. Check out a few words about the news below…
“Stoked to announce that Will Gunn will be repping us in Australia through BMX Militia. If you don’t already know too much about Will, check out his last edit that was absolutely bonkers. Will is an absolute maniac that definitely fits in with the Demolition mantra that is to ride everything and ride it well. Be sure to check out his team page w/ his bio too. Pic by: Chris Benno”
