Schwinn “American Muscle” Behind the Scenes (1996)
What were you doing in 1996? Since I have a feeling a good number of people checking this out may not have existed yet, or were super young at the time, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise that they weren’t watching the Schwinn “American Muscle” video that coincidentally featured a few of BMX’s legends that you might be familiar with. The crew at Snakebite BMX uploaded 13 minutes of raw behind the scenes footage filmed during a mini ramp session. Back with full face helmets, front and back brakes were the norm. Plenty of gold packed into this one, so hit play and take it all in!
“While filming for the infamous Schwinn video Osato & Miron decided to drive south of the border and ride my friend Andrews ramps. Andrew had his camera that day and filmed the session. Featuring Dave Osato, Jay Miron, Andrew Ryser, Ben Marin, Rich Hirsch, Jason Enns, & Nathan Penonzek.
At the end there are a few clips at Jarek’s ramp it that was not in the same town.” – Snakebite BMX

Flash Back Friday – Front Brake Magic
Over the course of the past few weeks, we’ve seen a couple really mind blowing videos from a few of the guys who are absolute animals when it comes to the front brake game these days. Obviously, in the past years brakes have really become obsolete for a good number of riders, which I mean is fine, but I almost feel like it’s almost becoming some sort of a lost art. There are so many tricks that just aren’t possible without brakes or even front brakes for that matter that kick so much ass. It’s always refreshing to see people doing things different and killing it like it was done back in the day.
Watching all of these new videos with all of this front brake magic got me thinking about not only how bad I want to get some on my bike, but a few of the guys I grew up watching who all ran front brakes. I decided since it’s a “Flashback Friday” that it would be a good time to pull out a few of these new videos and then dig in a little bit for some videos spanning the past decade or so front some of the legends of the front brake game so to speak. Let’s take a peek…
Video Recap: 2/4 – 2/10
It’s always fun digging through the Daily Section to pick out the edits for this weekly list. I average around 160 or 170 posts a week (roughly 25 – 30 a day) so as you can imagine, I can’t always remember all of the videos I watched and posted. This week was another one of those weeks where I forgot just how many wild videos that dropped. This week you can find videos featuring Harry Main, Connor Lodes, Dave Osato, Liam Fahy-Hampton, Josh Perry, Mick Bayzand, Joris Coulomb, Cam Wood, Dan Foley, Daniel Johnson, Tony Hamlin, Javi Castilla, Diego “Mono” Navarro and more. Let’s check it all out!
