“Summer time in Arizona is unbearable. We decided to work on an all-night time video. It will be pretty full in length, featuring sections/mini parts from Joey Motta, The Wonder Twins, Bobby Kanode, Lahsaan Kobza, Drew Hosselton, Eric Bahlman, Austin “Crunchy” Auginbaugh, Troy Blair, and Travis Cordova. Also featuring a plethora of homies from AZ. Aiming to release it and have a big ol’ party in the spring of next year. Enjoy!” – Bobby Kanode

“Phoenix is a magical place that I end up finding myself stuck in for a couple weeks a year. The people are down for anything fun or destructive, the spots are plentiful, the girls are weird, and if it’s hot, you just go sneak into a hotel pool. The riding scene there is diverse; little cliques of riders all have names for their groups of friends and yet there’s no qualms about getting together and seemingly no beef over random BMXness. The scene is tight and now Bobby Kanode has finally released Mediocre At Best that, despite the name, really does the scene proper justice. A great feel—one that can come from a labor of love—and tons of amazing riding ranging in all types, just as you’d expect from a scene born and bred on The Gonz and Ratboy. “The section from our 2008 video, Insight, including clips from Van Homan, Brad Simms, Randy Brown, Jack Maddock, Kurt Rassmuson, Drew Hosselton, Eric Lichtenberger, Raul Ruiz and more…
“When I started working on the video this was the first song I cleared knowing I wanted to use it for a friends mix section. By the time the video was done, Band of Horses had blown up and the music supervisor told me it was no longer possible to get their songs at an affordable price. So we were lucky we got it when we did. I’ve always liked the vibe of this part thanks to that song. Randy Brown and Kurt Rasmusson clips are my favorite. Also, Edwin Delarosa loves this part, he always reminds me that it’s one of his favorites so that’s pretty cool.” —Ryan Navazio
If you love pools, you’re going to be stoked on this new one from Ride BMX! Check out Drew Hosselton, Adam Banton, Brian Grant, Josh Betley, Noid and Aaron Maxwell all getting down on a bunch of different pools!
“With summertime temperatures hovering around 115 degrees, it should come as no surprise that Phoenix has the most swimming pools per capita than any other city in the world. That fact, along with Arizona being hit particularly hard by the housing bust has created ideal conditions for pool riding. With nearly an endless supply of terrain, putting this video together was as simple as rounding up good friends and grabbing some buckets buckets.
