Catching Up with Jeff Wescott

December 5, 2012

This one appears to be a little bit delayed on its release, but it still gives you a pretty good idea of what’s new with Jeff Wescott. Plus, there are some real good clips in this mixed in for good measure. Check it!

“The Midwest’s Jeff Wescott has had an interesting year so far, consisting of sponsor changes, injuries, filming, and even being denied access to enter England. Recently, Jeff had an extended stay in Las Vegas, where he was filming Matt Closson for a Diamondback video. During that time, we decided to film some lines at the local skatepark and discuss his past year of ups and downs.” – Aaron Nardi / ESPN BMX

Adam Banton & Drew Hosselton – Arizona Pool Sessions

December 3, 2012

Greg Moliterno caught up with Adam Banton and Drew Hosselton to do some pool riding in Arizona recently. They came across a pool and what appears to be an abandoned water park that did the job. They ended up with a bunch of clips for this new ESPN BMX edit. Check it!

Peep Game – Episode 6

December 1, 2012

ESPN BMX dropped their latest video from the Peep Game crew featuring the likes of Anthony Watkinson, JJ Palmere, Garrett Reynolds, Ty Morrow and more all bringing some dialed riding to the mix. You won’t want to skip this one.

Mike Saavedra at Woodward Tahoe

November 28, 2012

Hell yeah! This is awesome.

“As fall was setting in, Deluxe pro Mike Saavedra expressed worry that the trails he built at Woodward Camp’s new Lake Tahoe location wouldn’t last much longer. Tahoe at the end of summer sounded like a perfect weekender to me, so two days later, we were packed and headed out on an 8-hour overnight drive. When we arrived, we were in luck — the trails were in good shape since Mike, his brother, and their crew built them months ago. After a good day of riding went down, we had a little extra time on our hands so we went all over Lake Tahoe — climbing on waterfalls, swimming at the beach, and even a wild night in Reno with Cesar Lopez. All in all, the trip was way too much fun and now we all can’t wait to go back when the snow is good.” Aaron Nardi / ESPN BMX

2012 Fun Fun Fun Fest Edit

November 26, 2012

If you’re like me, you might have missed the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas a few weeks ago. Based on these videos, it would appear we missed an awesome time. Damn.

“Several weeks ago, we featured Sandy Carson’s exclusive photos from the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas. Launched in 2006, Fun Fun Fun Fest has become a well known independent festival for music lovers and artists in its seven years of existence.

This year, on top of the music, the Fun Fun Fun Fest hosted BMX and skate demos featuring some of Austin’s top pros, including Aaron Ross, Tom Dugan and Clint Reynolds. Combined with the likes of Braid, Bob Mould and commentary from Steve Crandall, Stew Johnson pieced together the above video from the fest. In addition, Stew sat down with Brent Humphreys to dicsuss his non-profit organization Project Loop, an Austin-based partner of Fun Fun Fun Fest conceived to benefit youth through lessons in creativity, exercise, and hard work. Check the interview below.” – ESPN BMX

Ed Pollio and Staten Island’s 5050 park

November 23, 2012

Since 5050 Skatepark opened up in July, it has been getting plenty of attention. Matt Brown recently caught up with the owner, Ed Pollio to find out what it took to make this place happen. This is awesome.

“Ed Pollio has long been a pillar of the Staten Island BMX scene. He has a certain ability to get people motivated and make things happen. He jokingly refers to himself as the BMX version of Tony Robbins. If you live in the NYC metropolitan area, you may have seen Ed once or twice on the local news lobbying at town hall meetings to have the Ben Soto memorial skate park rebuilt. After the city bulldozed the Ben Soto park last year, Ed and his girlfriend Angelica decided to open their own skatepark. 5050 has been up and running since July. Although it sustained some minor damage from flooding during Hurricane Sandy, the Staten Island scene came together and got the park running in only three days.” – Matt Brown / ESPN BMX

Mic’d Up with FBM’s Eric Holladay

November 15, 2012

ESPN BMX recently spent some time following FBM‘s Eric Holladay around for a day hanging out with some interesting dudes and getting some riding time in.

“After spending a week with FBM team rider Eric Holladay in Richmond Va., I decided to put a microphone on him and document the mayhem. Eric shreds on a daily basis and always finds himself in wild situations. Believe it or not, this is a pretty average day in Richmond, which is why it is one of the best up-and-coming BMX cities in the country.” – Matt Brown / ESPN BMX

Inside the Imprint Project

November 15, 2012

Aaron Nardi made a stop by the Imprint Project setup that was in Austin, Texas a few weeks back during the Texas Toast Jam to get the low down on what it is all about and give you a look at some of the photos and photographers that are featured. This was definitely an awesome project and they picked the perfect group of photographers for this.

“Defgrip and Quintin recently came together with five of their favorite BMX photographers to form ‘The Imprint Project.’ The idea behind the project was simple: five esteemed BMX photographers from different parts of the world (Jeff Zielinski in California, Ricky Adam in Leeds, U.K., Walter Pieringer in Austin, Edwin De La Rosa in N.Y. and George Marshall in London, U.K.) were asked to be included in a black and white traveling photo gallery that started in Venice, Calif., ventured to Austin, Texas for the Texas Toast Jam, and will soon continue on to Europe and Japan.

According to Chris Mortenson of Quintin, “Quintin wanted to bring the idea of collaboration to BMX photographers,” and to that end, they’ve created t-shirts and hats featuring photos from The Imprint Project, which are available for purchase on the Quintin site and includes a Ricky Adam shot of Mike Tag at Stockwell skatepark in London.” – Aaron Nardi / ESPN BMX
