Here are two edits from the Voodoo Jam that went down in New Orleans, Louisiana last weekend. Above you can find a video from Freegun featuring Terry Adams. Below, you can find an edit from ESPN featuring the rest of the riders that were in on the contest.
“After a two-year hiatus the Flatland Voodoo Jam returned to Generations Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana. Just as expected, both the floor and balcony were filled to capacity and the energy was at an all-time high as more than 50 riders from eight different countries competed in the veteran, amateur, and pro classes of the most anticipated flatland event on North American soil this year.
With event organizer Scott O’Brien on the mic, and former BMX rider and local DJ MKULTRAsound on the turntables, the nightclub atmosphere came to life and gave both the riders and spectators a New Orleans experience they will never forget.
The pro class was stacked with talented riders, and with a one-run qualifying format, just making it into the ten-man finals was a feat in and of itself. Of the ten who moved on to the finals, the top five rode for a third time and went head-to-head in a battle-style super finals of sorts to fight for those coveted spots on the podium. When the dust settled, Dominik Nekolny out of the Czech Republic took the top spot with the U.S.’ Matt Wilhelm and event co-organizer and local hero Terry Adams rounding out the top three.
The 2012 Flatland Voodoo Jam is sponsored by: Red Bull, Dan’s Comp, Flatland Fuel, Freegun Underwear, Raising Cane’s, Deco, 430 Clothing, Diversion TV, Odyssey, Flatware, Fiksd Apparel, Neue Creative and Purple Monkey.

Head over to the ESPN website to check out an interview with Tree Bicycle Co.‘s Nathan Parker about the direction of the brand. It sounds like they will be announcing another addition to the team here shortly. I can’t even begin to imagine who it might be.
Here’s some lost but now found clips from Codie Larsen’s trip to Los Angeles that ESPN dropped. There’s a ton of real good riding in this one, so take a look!

Nick Ferreira recently caught up with Steven Hamilton to discuss all sorts of things from his recent edits and video parts to what keeps him motivated, frame sizes and Columbus, Ohio in his fresh interview up on ESPN. Definitely a good read. Take a look!
“Athens, Ga., via Michigan flatland/trails/street rider Dane Beardsley needs to be commended for being very patient with me. A few weeks ago, Dane approached me with a private link to a new video he had been working on for the past six months or so, tracking his latest flatland progression, from front wheel rolling links filmed in Jersey City during last year’s New York Marathon, to hip fakies at the trails.
I was immediately impressed with the video, but also amid the production chaos that comes with working on the 2012 Street League Skateboarding Series. (Yes, I do more than BMX around here.) I asked Beardsley, “Can you hold onto it till next week?” He responded yes, and then had to deal with probably two more rounds of me saying the same thing before I was finally able to give it the proper attention it needed here. I apologize, Dane, please forgive me.
As evidenced by the above video, Dane Beardsley’s riding is not like your everyday brand of popular flatland riding. For one, he has no bad tattoos. And two, he’s not overly concerned with fast, concentric front wheel combinations. He’d rather let his links breathe, while layering on the difficulty. He’s also not dominated by front or back wheel links — he breaks it up evenly. And he’s not afraid to throw some rail hops and trail riding into the mix. I guess you could say he’s the porridge that Goldilocks chose in this crazy world called flatland.” – ESPN
Stew Johnson compiled some of the best footage of Stevie Churchill that they have been using in the recent Dan’s Comp promo edits for ESPN. Needless to say it’s packed with goodness and if this are his clips they can’t use in the DVD… I can’t wait to see what they are sitting on.
