Reed Stark Interview

Interview by Kurt Hohberger and Cody York

Over the years I’ve watched Reed grow up from a little guy doing turndowns on a bike that’s too big for him to this excessively tall street beast that can absolutely destroy rails and spots. It seems like since he got picked up by BSD two or so years ago already, his riding has progressed an insane amount. The crazy part is that he balances going to college full-time between all of the rail destruction, trips and responsibilities being a pro rider entails these days. With Reed’s new Sun Ringle edit due to drop tomorrow and Cody York sitting on some rad photos, we figured it would be a good time to catch up with Reed to find out what’s new with him. Let’s check out what he had to say in this new Quicky!

Fit X Etnies – Ben Lewis Edit

February 11, 2013

As part of the release of the new Etnies X Fit Bike Co. Ben Leiws signature shoe releasing, they’ve dropped this brand new edit. Check out Ben cruising a few different spots then get a closer look at the shoes, t-shirts, long sleeve shirt, hoodie and beanie in this. Definitely digging the line and the riding footage is real good.

“The etnies x Ben Lewis x Fitbikeco shoe collaboration is a dream come true for Ben Lewis. Involved at every level of the process, Ben personally selected the classic etnies RVM for this collaboration along with the navy and red colors that perfectly match his Fit bike and the custom graphics featured on the footbeds and outer heel. As Ben’s favorite etnies style, the RVM’s midtop supports and protects his ankles while the sole is nice and grippy without sacrificing the flexibility needed when riding.” – Ride BMX

Etnies – Roll With It: Geoff Slattery

January 28, 2013

Here’s a proper way to start your Monday off! Etnies dropped this new video of Geoff Slattery putting in some work for your viewing pleasure. Geoff is all about going fast and making it look good. That’s what I’m talking about. Check it!

“Geoff spends so much time in the air, whether on a plane or on his bike. He’s been busy traveling and stacking footy from all over, but not too busy for an etnies edit… guess he just Rolls With It. Here’s Slattery slaying it. Props to anyone who can name all these spots!”

Brian Kachinsky Off Etnies

January 13, 2013

I caught wind of this the other day, but figured I’d wait to drop the news when Brian and Etnies were ready. If you checked the team page the past week or so, you might have noticed Brian’s profile was missing. I’ve got a few ideas of where he will be going, but we’ll wait till the official word drops about that. Definitely an end to an era…

“After many great years with Etnies, I will no longer be a part of the team. It’s been a pleasure working with some amazing people at Etnies. I will miss my Etnies teammates greatly but luckily this is BMX and I’m sure I’ll be seeing you guys somewhere around the globe soon. Thanks for having me as a part of the family. I have plenty of good memories, shared tons of laughs and always appreciated helping the BMX program. Best wishes moving forward. 2013 is going to be amazing. There’s some excited stuff I’ve been working on for a couple months and it will be announced any day now.” – Etnies

Etnies – Piotr “Leszczu” Leszczyński Edit

January 10, 2013

Here’s a fresh one from Etnies connect, Piotr “Leszczu” Leszczynski getting down at his local park. This dude knows how to whip, spin and throw the bars super fast. Definitely take a peek at this.

Chase Hawk on Etnies

January 1, 2013

Chase Hawk BMX Etnies

About this time of year, sponsor news starts to fly. Pro riders contracts expire and before you know it they make some moves to a new team. It would appear that Chase Hawk has parted ways with his long time sponsor Vans for a new opportunity with Etnies. Definitely a crazy bit of news to be posting. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a welcome edit and Chase popping up in plenty of videos this year. Get stoked.

Spotted on the Etnies BMX Instagram.

UPDATE! – Here’s the official Press Release.

“Jan. 2, 2013 (Lake Forest, CA) – etnies is ringing in the new year by signing Chase Hawk, one of BMX’s most progressive riders, to its team. With his speed, smooth style and unrivaled ability to boost incredibly high, Chase Hawk is the rider to watch in 2013. Welcome to the etnies BMX team, Chase!”

“Joining the etnies BMX family means a lot to me,” said Chase Hawk. “I’ve been psyched on the team ever since I was a little kid so to finally get the opportunity to work with everyone is going to be awesome. I plan on 2013 being a busy year with etnies producing a ‘welcome to the team’ edit, new product and starting to film for the next full-length etnies video. Thanks again to [team manager] Povah and etnies for giving me the chance to be a part of the team” – Chase Hawk

John Povah, etnies BMX Team Manager said: “From a very young age Chase Hawk’s evident talents have set the bar high for creating milestones in BMX. He’s arguably a rider, if not the rider, that other riders wish to emulate and will routinely stop what they’re doing to watch ride. Chase now starts a new chapter in his life as part of the etnies BMX team. It’s overdue, so I’m really stoked that Chase wanted to ride for etnies. He brings a considerable amount to the table and can now be part of something special that he can truly feel proud of. I also think having Chase as part of the team will excite, energize and build on an already amazing team and brand. Welcome to the family Chase!”
