Flybikes – Sergio Layos Signature Sierra Line

For 2018, Flybikes worked with Sergio Layos on a brand new signature line that includes the Sierra frame, Sierra bars and Sierra Tripod Seat. Let’s take a closer look!

Flybikes Sierra Frame

Anyone who kept up with BMX in 2017 knows that Sergio Layos had one hell of a year riding at events like the Vans BMX Pro Cup and more. Flybikes and Sergio decided it was time to revamp his signature Trueno line with some modernized design and adjustments to the geometry. First up, let’s take a look at the brand new Sergio Layos signature Sierra frame. This BMX frame is made from 100% Japanese Seamless 4130 chromoly tubing with a 75-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.75″ bottom bracket height, 8.75″ standover height and a 13.6″ chainstay length. The Sierra frame starts out with an offset thickness, heat-treated head tube and internal integrated gussets on the top and down tubes, with an external gusset on the top tube for extra strength up front. The top tube and down tube are multi-butted and tapered and the seat tube is multi-butted. The frame also features a 4130 chromoly Investment Cast seat post clamp with the Horizontal Cut System to give you better clamping with less torque on the frame, a heat-treated Mid bottom bracket, curved seat and chainstay bridges for more tire clearance, heat-treated Investment Cast dropouts with integrated chain tensioners and the Easy Brake System removable brake mounts.

The Sierra frame is available in Translucent Copper and Flat Black colors, top tube lengths of 20.6″ and 21″ with a weight of 4.85 lbs. and a $380.00 price tag. The frame is available through BMX shops or on the Flybikes website.

Flybikes Sierra Bars

Along with the frame, Sergio updated his signature bars. The Sierra bars are made from multi-butted, seamless 4130 chromoly tubing with 8.5″ and 9″ rise options, a 28.5″ width, 12-degrees of backsweep and 2-degrees of upsweep. The bars are available in Flat Black, weigh in at 1.6 lbs. and a price tag of $75.00. The Sierra bars are available through Flybikes dealers worldwide now or on the Flybikes website.

Flybikes Sierra Tripod Seat

Last but not least, the new Sergio Layos signature Sierra Tripod seat. The seat, designed for a specific look that Sergio likes has a slim Tripod base (235mm long and 140mm wide) with an ergonomic shape that has 7mm thick padding with a vinyl cover that has a patch on the rear. The Sierra seat comes in Black and Brown color options with a weight of 6.6 oz. and a $35.00 price tag through Flybikes dealers worldwide or on the Flybikes website.

Flybikes – Volcano TT Stem

Flybikes have released their new Volcano TT stem…

Last year the crew at Flybikes introduced their new Volcano Front and Top Load Stems that utilized some clean machining for a great look and grooves where the bars sit to help resist slipping. For 2018, they’ve decided to release a 3rd option for the stem to combine their ever popular Roey and Alta stems. The Volcano TT stem is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a 50mm reach, 25mm rise, a 29mm stack height and external and internal machining for extra weight savings. The stem is a slimmed down and lighter version of the regular Volcano stem, but still features a 47mm width and the anti-slip grooves to keep your bars in place. Add in some beveled edges, a recessed top and solid chromoly bolts and you have a strong and a really clean looking BMX stem!

The Volcano TT stem comes in Black, Space Grey and Dark Gold with a weight of 10 oz. (286 grams) and can be picked up for $65.00 through Flybikes dealers worldwide and online, or on the Flybikes website.

Flybikes – Larry Edgar “Power Personified”

Larry Edgar coming through with another banger for Flybikes!

It’s always a good day when a new Larry Edgar video drops! Flybikes just dropped this new one featuring Larry absolutely CRUSHING it on trails, skateparks and pools out in California. After the year Larry had from landing on the podium at pretty much all the contests to dealing with a few injuries, it’s safe this video took some heavy effort to get done! Needless to say, Larry brings the speed, style and some serious boost to everything he touches! Absolute MUST SEE.

“It’s no secret that Larry is a beast on a bike, goes an extra couple feet higher than the next guy and has some of the best inverted 3’s in the game! With an amazing year under his belt, with high demands from travel and contests, this video became quite the journey. Originally meant to be only a few months in the making, at most, but between travel, contests, scheduling and injuries for both the filmer Nathan and Larry himself, it took a little longer than planned. Are you on the hunt for a new BMX Frame? Do you wish you could ride like Larry Edgar? Well, we can’t help you ride like Larry, but we can at least help increase your odds of having a bike as dialed as his. Here’s a look at the Larry Edgar signature Aire frame from Flybikes!

The Aire frame is made from full 4130 Seamless Japanese chromoly tubing with a 74.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.50″ bottom bracket height, 9.25″ standover height and a 13.8″ chainstay length. Get a closer look at the new 2018 Sion Complete from Flybikes!

It seems like every year the new complete BMX bikes come out that we think “there is no way they can get better than this”… and then they do. The other day Flybikes released their 2018 complete bikes, frames and parts, and they exceeded expectations like many other brands did with their products for this year. One bike in particular that we are really digging in this 2018 Sion, so we figured it would be a good idea to take a closer look at this higher end complete that’s available in a crazy flat translucent blue and a matte black and grey combo.

Running through the parts list, it’s mostly made up of aftermarket Flybikes parts, with a few Trebol Brand (Sub-brand of Flybikes) parts like the hubs, hub guards, pegs and cranks. Add in a full chromoly frame, fork and bars and you have one hell of a bike for $720.00.

The bike is designed for street riding and adult sized riders, too. 21″ top tube, 9.25″ rise bars, 75.5-degree head tube angle, 9.25″ standover height and a shorter 13.2″ chainstay length.

Depending on the color, you either get Space Grey or Black Parts… The Flat Black bike does have the new Grey Devon grips and Fuego tires that will be available on their own as well.

New Sergio Layos signature Sierra Tripod seat that will be available aftermarket as well.

Trebol sealed front hub and sealed cassette hubs. This bike also comes with the Trebol Bueno plastic pegs and hub guards, which is a nice perk.
