BSD – The Revolution Hub

November 9, 2020

BSD have released their new Revolution hub utilizing the Planetary internals from Free Night.

It looks like Free Night guys have begun licensing out their patented design on the Planetary Freecoaster hub they released earlier this year. BSD have released their new Revolution Hub utilizing the Planetary Clutch internals that make for a freecoaster that works like a cassette. This design has been something that multiple designers have tried to figure out for years (and failed at), and now it looks like it’s going to be widely available in BMX after this design fixed all the flaws in other designs. BSD is the first to produce their own hub with the design, and we would imagine we’ll be seeing others similar to how the KHE freecoaster internals are in damn near every freecoaster out right now. Either way, this is pretty awesome to see. Hit play for a quick promo video, then learn more about BSD’s hub down below!

Testing The Free Night Planetary Freecoaster Hub

August 11, 2019

If you have been seeing the Free Night Planetary Coaster Hub and you have been wondering how this freecoaster that also works like a cassette works, here’s a few videos for you. Brant Moore got his hands on one of the hubs and has been trying to figure it all out. Here are a few of the videos he has put together from the sessions he has been getting in on it. The first video is literally the first session he got on it, and the second is a follow up video where he answers and tests out a few of the questions he got in the comments from the first video. After that, we re-upped his video where he takes the hub apart and shows you everything going on inside and just how it works. So, if you’re thinking about picking up the Free Night Planetary Freecoaster Hub, here’s a look at what it’s all about. These videos are a little more vloggy than we usually post, but there’s not much out there about this hub so it’s worth a look.

“My first day riding the Free Night Planetary Freecoaster!
I’ve never had a freecoaster on my bike before so this was a definite learning curve.
If you guys have anything you’d like me to test or take a look at, let me know in the comments below!!!!
”

“Answering all of your questions and putting the Planetary Freecoaster to the test!
This was my second session ever with a freecoaster on my bike so the learning curve is still there but I’m getting more and more comfortable.

If you guys have anything you’d like me to test or take a look at, let me know in the comments below!!!!”

Inside Look At The Free Night Planetary Freecoaster Hub

August 3, 2019

There has been some buzz about the new Free Night Planetary Freecoaster hub that is a new design that combines a freecoaster and a cassette hub into one hub so you can freecoast backward, but still get the same feel as a cassette when you’re pedaling forward without the slack and need to engage / disengage the hub. Brant Moore got his hands on one of the hubs to get an in-depth look at the hub and do some riding with it. Here’s a video where Brant disassembles the hub to give you an inside look at the hub. If you’re on the hunt for a new back hub and want to try something different, check this video out for a look at this guy.

You can also learn more about the hub on the Free Night website!

“This hub could change BMX freecoaster hubs FOREVER!
The internals of the Planetary Freecoaster from Free Night are similar to hubs weve seen before, but have one giant difference; planetary gearing.
This allows the hub to be a cassette when moving forward, then immediately go into freecoaster mode with NO disengagement.
This is completely unlike and other freecoaster hub available.
