Subrosa – Paul Gurvitz Interview

March 6, 2014

Did you like the song in Hoang Tran’s part from the Subrosa “Get Used To It” video? Turns out there is a crazy story behind the song and how they actually got to use it in the video! Check this video interview out where they catch up with Paul Gurvitz to talk about it! This is badass!

“Check out this different style edit from Subrosa. We got a chance to sit down with Paul Gurvitz from the band Gun and Three Man Army about what went into the remaking of the song “Race With the Devil” for our full-length video Get Used To It.

This was the first artist we approached in the process of getting clearance for all the music in the video, and it turned out to be a really cool story. Instead of simply just using the existing song, he re-recorded a version just for Hoang Tran’s G.U.T.I. section!

The Gun “Race With the Devil” made it to the Top 10 U.K. charts in 1969 and has been covered by tons of bands including Girl School and Judas Priest.

Thanks to Paul Gurvitz for helping out with Get Used To It more than he knows! Check out what he’s up to at

Subrosa – Park Party Tour: Palm Springs

February 14, 2014

The Subrosa guys are starting a new Park Party series where they hit up different parks and ride with the locals. This first edit gives you a look at some of the sessions Hoang Tran, Lahsaan Kobza and Kyle Hart getting down with some of the locals at two parks and some clips from the street spots they found in Palm Springs, Arizona! Looks like it was a damn good time to me!

“Welcome to our first official Subrosa “Park Party” Tour edit. We’re taking a different approach to demos and shop stops, and this edit came out awesome!

The idea is while we’re traveling around filming for various projects and videos we will announce a “Park Party” and invite all the locals to come out and ride with us, and have a chance to be in the edit with the team!

The Subrosa team doesn’t want to show up at a park and say “hey look at us” we want to shred with other riders!

The Kings Rideshop/ Palm Springs locals killed it! Mix that together with some street footage Hoang, Kyle, and Lahsaan got during the week, and this edit rules!

Thanks to the Kings Rideshop/ Palm Springs locals, huge thanks to James and Jess from Kings Rideshop, and we’ll see you at the next Subrosa Park Parties” coming up at The Wheel Mill in Pittsburgh, and Cranx in Syracuse, NY. More info on those coming early next week.

Sneak Peek: Subrosa – Villicus Prime II Frame

January 17, 2014

SUB_VillicusPrime2_Frame_600x

Here’s a little sneak peek for you guys! Hoang Tran’s signature Villicus Prime frame from Subrosa got some changes for the new year! Check out a few words about the changes from them below and then start saving since this will be out in MARCH!

“The longest running frame in the Subrosa line up just got better; again. Spec wise Hoang wanted more pop out of his bike, so we shortened the rear end to 13.5, 13.25 fully slammed. We also added our new custom Subrosa cast seat stay bridge so you can rock the Subrosa logo loud and proud! We added thicker chain stays to resist denting and increase strength, and removed some of the features that didn’t help with the function of the bike to reduce cost, making this the strongest most affordable Villicus to date. Available mid-March.”

Space Trippin’ SF

January 8, 2014

Now this is what I’m talking about! Defgrip dropped this new video Hoang Tran put together from a trip that him, Tom Perry and their buddy Dylan (who reminds me a lot of Dirt Ron) took from San Diego up to San Francisco! This video documents everything they got into from riding to camping, getting loose in a dorm hallway and more. Take a peek because this is one video you won’t want to miss!

“This little trip I took with my friends Tom and Dylan was nothing more than an excuse to get out of town for a couple of days. We barely did any planning for this trip beside figuring out some key destinations. We decided to take a roadtrip up to San Francisco and do some camping along the way. There are two main interstates you can take to get to San Fransisco from San Diego. The fastest route, that’s up the 5 which takes about 7 hours with no stops, or you can take the 1 (Coast Hwy) which takes 10+ hours but filled with incredible views. For us, it was going to be about making good time, but for us now this is measured with the emphasis on “Good” rather than “time” and when you make the shift in emphasis the whole approach changes. So we went up the 1…
The rest of the trip was based around this motto and many good times were had. This video showcases some of the experiences on the way up and our short stay in San Francisco. Thanks to Tom for doing all the animation and helping with the filming; Erin Barker for her photography and letting us crash at her freshman college dormitory that housed a group named the sexy six…,Dylan for partying the sexy six to levels of panty incineration.
