Odyssey was started in 1985 so to say that they have a history in BMX is quite the understatement. They have created multiple innovative products, they have won design awards, they have continued to make products that have helped BMX progress to the level it is at today. Not only that but they have also put together an amazing team both pro and flow and they continue to set trends while the average company tries to keep up. Odyssey as a whole seems to be doing something right these days and it’s a company that has the respect of its fellow peers. They give back to BMX in the form of quality, trust-worthy parts and help support riding by putting on one of the best contests to date otherwise known as the Texas Toast Jam. I recently got the chance to head down to the main offices/warehouse in Norwalk, California and spend the afternoon hanging with Jim Bauer. Grab a drink, get comfortable and find out why Odyssey is one of the leading companies in all of BMX.
Walter Pieringer Named Odyssey and Sunday Team Manager
It was announced today that Walter Pieringer will be taking over the role of Team Manager for both Odyssey and Sunday Bikes. Check out the official word from both brands. I can imagine a lot of good things will be coming from this. Stoked on the news. Hell yeah, Walter!
“Odyssey has had the opportunity to work closely with WALTER PIERINGER throughout the years in various ways. We have always been a fan of his photography, video work, ability to orchestrate projects and most importantly, his professional work ethic. With all that said, we are happy to welcome Walter aboard as the new Odyssey TM.
Walter has a proven track record and will continue to coordinate his unique brand of content with the Odyssey crew. Furthermore, Walter will also be working in a similar capacity with our stable of brands: SUNDAY, GSPORT & FLATWARE. We are all excited for 2013 and beyond.
Here is what some of our team riders had to say:
“Hell Yeah!! Walter knows best, trust me.”
– TOM DUGAN
“That guy is multi-talented, in many ways. And he is a good dude.”
– ERIC LICHTENBERGER
“Couldn’t be more stoked, I have a good friend as my new team manager. Looking forward to continuing to travel and work together more!”
– AARON ROSS
“Walter is one of those individuals that happens to be amazing at whatever he puts his mind to. Giving him the reigns to guide the Full Factory teams is going to be an adventure to say the least. I am excited to be a part of it.”
– GARY YOUNG” – Odyssey
“Big news time! After being the team manager from our inception in April of 2005, I’ve decided it was time to focus on other duties at Sunday and step away from the team manager role. It’s been a great 8 years in this role, but Sunday has grown so much that it was time to bring on a new TM. In doing so, I would like to introduce Walter Pieringer as Sunday’s new TM. Walter’s an amazing photographer, filmer and trip organizer, so it make sense for him to step into this new role. He will also be working with Odyssey as their TM as well. Look for him and the rest of the Sunday team on the road starting soon.” -Jim Cielencki / Sunday
Jim Cielencki Bike Check
It’s pretty wild how far complete bikes have come over the years. Sunday‘s Soundwave Special complete bike is a perfect example of just how good they can be. This bike is so fully loaded out of the box and it’s what Jim Cielencki rides himself. Check out this video bike check to get the full scoop along with some riding clips!
“With Sunday and Odyssey being so close, I’m lucky to be able to build up one of the best bikes available today. So, when it came time to build up a my new Soundwave, I realized that I didn’t actually have to custom build the bike with Odyssey parts. Rather I could just get a Soundwave Special complete bike and ride that since it has all the parts that I would have picked anyway. By buying this bike as a complete you save $400 over piecing it together part by part. Check after the break to see a full parts list and some more photos of the Soundwave Special.”

Insight: Sunday 2013 Frames
Since Sunday‘s inception, they’ve always been pretty notorious for pushing things with unique frame technology. When I think of their frames the wave tubing and the sturdy down tube gussets come to mind. For 2013, they have revamped their entire line of frames with new geometry, new features, new colorways and even a few new names. I figured it would be a good idea to get ahold of Jim Cielencki to find out more about the changes they’ve made for the line that started hitting shops the other week. Let’s see what he had to say!
Sunday – Atlanta Vacation!
It looks like the Sunday team kicked Atlanta’s ass. There’s SOO many good clips in this. Wow.
“The Sunday team takes a much needed vacation in Atlanta to ride amazing street spots, skateparks and even take in an Atlanta Braves baseball game. Featuring Aaron Ross, Gary Young, Garrett Reeves, Eric Lichtenberger, Alex Magallan, Lee Dennis, Jake Seeley, Jim Cielencki and Chris Burden. Filmed by Francis Delapena and Jim Cielencki. Edited by Francis Delapena.
Filmed with help from Odyssey, Ipath Footwear and Kind Snacks.

Sunday – Happy Leap Year
“The chance of making a bunnyhop video only happens every 4 years, so enjoy this one. Happy Leap Year video features Eric Lichtenberger, Garrett Reeves, Gary Young, Erik Elstran, Lee Dennis, Jake Seeley, Jim Cielencki, Will Donohue and Alex Magallan leaping over rails, sidewalks, off trees or even over fellow team riders. Enjoy!” – Sunday
