Building A DIY Full Pipe

September 3, 2021

We’ve seen a lot of DIY spots over the years, but this is the first one we’ve seen with a full pipe that we can think of! Here’s a documentary style video showing how Mat Burton and crew built their own full pipe / bowl corner to ride, along with the battle to get it right. Take a look!

“After eight years of graft Mat Burton & friends in St Neots, UK have their very own DIY skatepark. Not satisfied, Mat decided to take on the massive task of adding in a full pipe to the already awesome setup. This documentary takes us through the process from start to finish. Shout out to those guys for taking matters into their own hands. Get inspired, get building!

April 7, 2020

We’re pretty sure every BMX rider has dreamed of building a mini ramp or something to ride in their yard, but it’s not something too many people end up getting the chance to do. Mat Burton finally made his dream happen with a 6 foot mini ramp. Here’s a video he put together giving us a look at the build, then plenty of dialed riding. If you aren’t into the vloggy aspect or seeing the build come together, skip ahead to 5:50 where you’ll get plenty of riding!

““I’ve finally lived my dream and built a 6ft ramp in my back garden! Couldn’t be happier with the way it feels just needs another layer of ply.

The building clips were originally from my Instagram story and the interaction I had from my followers/friends was amazing. Thank you all! Follow me if you don’t the DIY builds don’t stop here. Thanks for watching!”

Its a 6ft ramp with a 6 1/2 foot transition with an 8 foot flatbottom. I used 8 sheets of 18 mil plywood for the transitions over 200 support beams, 3 sheets of 20 mil ply for the deck, 10 1/2 sheets of hardwood 9mil ply. And just over 600 screws.” – Mat Burton
