Profile Racing – Made in America Diagram

November 2, 2012

One thing I’ve always respected about Profile Racing is that they have stuck to their guns and kept everything American made regardless of the economy or if they could have it made somewhere else for a lot cheaper. Matt went and put together this diagram showing you just how they get those dialed parts done with the help of local businesses in Florida. Pretty rad.

“This week I got with a couple of the shop guys and put together a diagram of our vendors. Profile is made up of a total of 22 full and part time employees.
When you think of how much product we produce (everything is done, initially, in-house), promotions, logistics, web management, team management, sales, etc…on top of having to physically assemble every component that goes out of here, the total number of people handling things is minimal.
Beyond what we do here, we rely on a pretty large amount of outside vendors to finish our product: Anodizing (aluminum components), black-oxiding (steel parts), painting (cranks and white components), etc…
With that in mind, the vendors listed below are all in the state of Florida (with the exception of one chromer who is out of state). Considering Profile keeps everything local (and within the US), we actually contribute to the employment of multiple companies.

We Have Motive – Matt Coplon Seven & Seven

October 9, 2012

Matt Coplon is seriously the best. All around good guy and a shredder on a bike. I’m so stoked on this.

“Matt Coplon really does it all when comes to working in the BMX industry! He handles numerous duties like sales, team management, marketing, etc. for Profile Racing. He writes & shoots photos for a variety of BMX media sites and most importantly he still rides his bike on a regular basis!
The dude is honestly one of the coolest individuals involved in the BMX Industry!

Tampa Bay Riders – Woodward Sojourn

August 6, 2012

Matt Coplon spent two and a half days at Woodward East with Mark Mulville, Dillon Leeper, Jeff Klugiewicz, Grant Castelluzzo, Mike Saavedra, and Mike Hinkens for a Profile and Madera trip. While he was there, he filmed a bunch of clips and decided to put together this video for Tampa Bay Riders for you to check out. I just wonder if there will be a full edit from the team trip. I’d imagine there will be.

Matt Coplon Edit

July 9, 2012

Matt Coplon is one of those rare guys who not only can manage to juggle a million things everyday like being a huge part of both Profile Racing and Madera brands, keeping the scene in Tampa Bay together, being a husband and killing it in a band, but even at 35 years old, he’s still out there progressing on his bike. Don’t get me wrong, 35 is the new 23, but still! It takes a lot of energy to do the things Matt manages to get done every single day.

Any time I get the chance to check out some fresh footage of Matt, I get excited because I already know it’s going to be good. I’m really stoked to drop this new edit because it’s definitely some of the best clips I’ve seen out of him to date. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy riding with good friends.” -Matt Coplon

Drawing Board: Profile Cassette Hub

April 19, 2012

BMX bikes have come a long way over the past 20-30 years, from rattling 1 Inch Threaded Headsets and shin searing Beartrap Pedals to investment-cast Dropouts and Pivotal Seats. Along the way there have been several products which have been instrumental to the improvement of our bikes, and at the top of that list is the Profile Cassette Hub. 15 years ago the guys at Profile took a technology used on high-end road bikes and used it to create, what is still to this day one of the most reliable and functional Bicycle Hubs in existence. This week I catch up with Profile Racing‘s Matt Coplon and Corey Alley to find out more about the beginnings and background story one of the most iconic products in BMX. After you check out the interview, don’t forget to check out the PHOTOGALLERY showing you the history of Profile’s hubs!
